It is sad that the 2 agents who contribute regularly to this forum are subject to niggles and barbed comments from people who dont even have anything to do with (or experience of) buying or selling in Tenerife.
Easy targets for cheap points scored aren't they, to the ones hiding behind a keyboard.
Shame on some of you. :redcard:

An old saying from the Armed Forces .....

"If you can't stand a joke, then you shouldn't have joined up !"

The same could apply here.

I am an Armed Forces veteran, I have never ever heard that saying - ever. And it´s not exactly catchy is it?
You sure you were in the armed forces Jimbo? Your not one of those Walter Mitty characters are you??!!!

" If you can't take a joke, you shouldn't have joined!" is probably before your time CIM :) it's only us old fossils that would remember it!!
It was generally used in times of adversity........ i.e. 25 miles forced march with full packs in freezing conditions and at the end of the march, you are expecting to find hot food and a warm bed, only to be told that for logistical reason's they have relocated the camp to a spot 10 miles away and you have to walk there :)

That particular motto does not show up anywhere in military history. In fact that particular string of words does not show up anywhere at all except where Jimbo has typed it....
My Corps motto shows up everywhere and is well documented. (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Manui+Dat+Cognitio+Vires&pws=0&hl=en&num=10) Strange that.

Spot on - and VERY well documented indeed .....

"The Intelligence Corps - A fine body of men and women, universally dedicated to making the Intelligence Corps seem more interesting than it actually is whilst simultaneously stabbing each other ruthlessly in the back in the interests of career progression."

More here and well worth reading http://www.arrse.co.uk/wiki/Intelligence_Corps

So just point to somewhere - ANYWHERE on the internet where this rubbish shows up:
"If you can't take a joke, you shouldn't have joined!"
I´m waiting with baited breath - Walter....

Oh and your quote was taken from a header under the title "The Myth" - just decided to leave that little nugget out did you??!! And it was written by members of the Corps themselves, look up "tongue in cheek" obvious to everyone in the Armed Forces - probably why you didn't "get it" then?
So again Walter, which secret squadron were you a part of?
Hilarious!!!

It is not a motto, it's a saying, it's black humour of the sort you get in the forces.

http://www.hmforces.co.uk/armed_forces_news/articles/9523-ptsd---officers-get-it-to

Check the end of the 2nd paragraph........I have used an example from H.M Forces website, but if you type into google "If you can't take a joke, you shouldn't have joined" you will see thousands of examples.

p.s. no charge for the info, I am not an estate agent :) (that is a joke)
