Have you visited this restaurant. How was it?

How was the service, what was the food like?

Write a review to give others an idea of where to go on their jollies

Not sure if this place has been reviewed but I am here to put in my own thoughts.

What a fabulous place, wonderful setting, decor and seating beautiful, private tables in wigwams or covered cabanas.

Menu has a lovely selection of pastas and pizzas, and a delicious choice of starters. Portion sizes are more than adequate.

Staff were all very nice (and handsome :)) and the manager was extremely helpful and very knowledgable about the wine.

They also serve the most fabulous flavoured Mojitos, mango was my favourite. And the Sangria was yummy.

Great setting for any occasion, we were celebrating a birthday and I took cupcakes as a surprise for the birthday girl, the staff placed each cupcake on a chocolate decorated plate which I found was a lovely touch.

Can't wait to go back there, thanks Doreen and the staff.

It looks a fabulous place - whereabouts is it please? We would like to go there when we're over in October.

As always with Doreen it's the attention to detail - counts every time. Her apartments are superb. :)

If you know Playa de Troya, it is on the seafront between the Palm Beach Hotel and the Bingo (or the Casino a little further on). The road from Veronicas has recently been opened (not evident on the map): underground parking at Salytien CC about 100 m away

Thanks Pixie and Al Jay - so glad you enjoyed your visits to us ... and thanks too to Tenerife Magazine (http://www.tenerifemagazine.com/) who have just given us a lovely review

We had our first Mod meeting there, which has been discussed on the Forum as the way to go and I can honestly say the food and service were outstanding.

I haven't eaten better in the 17 years I've lived on this island. Everything is cooked to perfection.

Can't comment on the drinks as it was a meeting and we were all driving, but I was dribbling watching the other tables.

Restaurant looks fantastic, however does it cater for children as well as adults or is it aiming at an adults only market?

I went for dinner yesterday evening with some friends to celebrate my birthday.

Fabulous location, fabulous food, excellent staff.

A totally unique experience. It is 'one of a kind'.

The attention to detail is second to none.

A lovely touch was that the staff were aware that it was my birthday and brought a large piece of gateaux for us to share after our meal, and sang 'happy birthday'

Last night was my second visit, with more to come.

The restaurant was very busy, but I wasn't aware of this until I looked closely. The staff are efficient and helpful, but not 'in your face'

This is how to organise and run a business

There are many ways to describe this restaurant, putting it simply would be "The Best".
We were there last week for a evening meal followed by a few cocktails, overall the meal was superb and the level of service was second to none! Pepe the manager appeared to go out of his way to be informative when he was describing the menu on offer, all the staff were attentive and friendly without being "in your face".
Our meal consisted of a selection of starters as it was difficult to make a choice from various mouth watering ones on offer, we both had a Sirloin Steak served with Seasonal Fresh Vegetables and New Potatoes, Carol had a Mushroom Sauce drizzled over her steak and I had a Red Wine Sauce, on my next visit which will be in September I will be trying the Gorgonzola Sauce with my steak.
This was followed by a Fresh Fruit Salad and Ice Cream.
Carol managed to drink a bottle of Pinot Grigio, which she assured me was perfect, where as I drank Buckler Beer.

If I was to score this restaurant in marks out of a hundred, it would have to be ONE HUNDRED AND ONE for Quality, Service and Value.
Not a Restaurant to be missed on a visit to Tenerife.

Well where do I begin? :) just back early this morning after a fantastic two week holiday in Tenerife ! We visited the Terraza del Mare several times during our holiday . The frozen cocktails are to die for ! I could have happily moved in for the whole two weeks and ate and drank on those comfortable sofas :drinking: We had a delicious meal there on my daughters 15th birthday , the food was scrumptious , and the Sangria was delish . On the rare night we didnt drop in for a cocktail my kids , and hubbie , would be giving out that they missed their yummy cocktails . The staff were very attentive , and we loved the bowl of nuts they served with the drinks. If we are lucky enough to return to Tenerife we will be back at the Terraza del Mare in a flash

Fine on Firefox - I don't use Chrome for the Forum as download time is too slow here and doesn't pick up all the data.

Muppet
15-07-2011, 15:27
It is fine on Firefox yes, but the point is that new machines come installed with IE as standard - yes Geeks will play and experiment with things like Firefox, Chrome and others, but they dont come as standard, have to be downloaded and installed and many people are frightened to do this, which is why 70 odd percent of browsing is still done through IE, despite it's quirks.

When you author a website it is pretty much essential to ensure it is IE compatable, and capable of being read by other less widely used browsers, otherwise you miss out on ocean-loads of traffic.

Yes, it seems to be a problem with IE which cannot handle the Flash or something ... techie guy will put a link saying something like - if using Explorer Click Here and it will redirect .... and he gently suggests that people move to a more up to date Browser :)

La Terrazza del Mare – Playa de las Americas
Posted on August 18, 2011 by Red Queen's Musings

I hadn´t managed to meet up with my friend since her holiday in Italy and we decided that as she loves Italian food we would have pizza at Nancy Spain’s restaurant in Los Cristianos. At 4.00pm on the day we were due to go I learnt that said restaurant was having an Official Opening ‘bash’ and food would not be served after 8.00pm only nibbles and drinks. As we were not meeting until 8.00, a quick change of plan was needed. Ulla is vegetarian, she eats fish but sometimes when choosing a place to eat the menu can be quite limited and predictable.

I did a check on the internet and there appeared to be plenty of choice not only for our veggie friend but all of us on the menu at La Terrazza del Mare in Las Americas this included pastas, pizzas and fish as well as meat so I phoned to book a table.

When we arrived at just after 8.30, we were shown to a table set for six although there were only three of us. It was in a small gazebo or tented cabin set back from the sea and although it was next to the road all we could smell were the beautiful flowers close by. While one of us did not take long browsing the menu, others in our party could not decide what to have so that gave time to look around. I can see how many will find the setting of the Terrazza romantic especially with the sun setting over La Gomera. The restaurant itself is also a cut above some establishments in the area with its sophisticated and chic good looks.

Our server for the evening was Pepe; the manager who we learnt had just won a major competition in making cocktails. He is no stranger to this having won before and we had a joke about testing new recipes. We settled for just a basket of hot breads and spreads for starters along with sampling two of his ‘Virgin’ cocktails a Shirley Temple and Safe Sex and one with lots of alcohol that would not look out of place on the film set of Shrek while we decided what to have for mains.

After a lot of hemming and hawing we opted for the chicken with fresh vegetables for OH, Ulla chose the fettuccini with mushrooms and prawns and I finally settled for the tortellini with spinach and gorgonzola. Friend had a glass of house red, which she declared delicious, and OH and I, not being great drinkers had a couple of bottles of water.

As you can see from the photos, the food was flawlessly presented and having sampled from everyone’s plate I can say without hesitation each dish was delicious. OH finished off with a slice of what I think was called Pine Nut Cake – we did discuss what this contained and concluded it was marzipan. Rather yummy, but Ulla and I decided to forego pudding and sample Pepe’s winning cocktail. Well I decided to try it and once Ulla had tasted she was quick to order her own. A tasty combination of Tia Maria, Vanilla Vodka with a hint of chocolate cookies and other subtle flavours blended into a semi-frozen delight, which rounded the evening off nicely.

All of the staff were extremely attentive, even those who were not serving us checked to see if things were OK as they passed by our table. The restaurant was full as well as the bar area were people were meeting up for cocktails before moving on to the all night clubs. I would certainly recommend a visit to anyone looking for something different, upmarket and stylish. Even if you don´t want to eat, it is worth a visit for the views, the cocktails and the setting. If you do wish to eat, I think it is best to reserve a table, so as not to be disappointed.

Well, we went for lunch today, and all thoroughly enjoyed it. The venue is delightful - the seating areas are absolutely lovely, beautiful views, and everything is very clean and well kept (inc. the loos!) which is something very important in a restaurant which wants to be "a cut above the rest".

The wine list was excellent, and it was nice to see a selection of wines which is not just Spanish. Although I do like Spanish wine, I sometimes get tired of never being offered anything else out here. We chose the Argentinian Malbec, which was fabulous.

The quality of the food was extremely good, and very well presented. Congratulations to the Chef.

I had Risotto Parmigiana, which was delightful. One of my friends chose from the 9.95€ set lunch menu, and had tuna salad followed by spaghetti carbonara. Both portions were huge, beautifully presented, and represented amazing value.

The staff were absolutely lovely, very attentive, and nothing was too much trouble.

To finish we had cocktails, which again were amazing.

All in all, a superb venue for lunch. I will try it again, but probably at sunset next time, as I am sure the views are absolutely stunning at that time of day.

I would definitely recommend it to everyone as somewhere to try.

We visited 3 times during our last visit. The 1st time we just had a drink, the 2nd we had a beautiful evening meal and on the 3rd we went for lunch. Each time we went the service was fantastic. Pepe not only makes fantastic cocktails but he's also a wonderful host.
Both times that we ate we managed to order too much! After having the cheeseboard we just couldn't resist it the next time we went cos it's absolutely beautiful. Every item that was brought to our table was presented so wonderfully and tasted even better than it looked.
The restuarant is very tastefully appointed and makes the most of the wonderful views.
We had the best meal of our holiday here in the most wonderful setting. We'll definately be making a return visit next time we're over and we'll also tell all our friends to make sure they pay it a visit. :yum: :yum: :D

went here a few weeks back and forgot to write on here how good it is. Hats off to the place, really, really good. Great food, service, comfort, coffee and cocktails. If fault was to be found it was having card menus which look tatty after only a short while. I find it very hard to recommend places to eat to tourists but would not hesitate to recommend this place.

Anyone wishing to open a restaurant would do well to visit here and see how it should be done. Well done to all involved.

The restaurant is just so unique in its style and in a prime position for dining overlooking that beautiful turquoise sea. It's the perfect place to go for a drink, lunchtime meal or dinner as it has different areas to chose from, depending on your mood and the occasion. Lovely private areas if you are feeling particularly romantic!!

We were passing one morning just as it was opening and stopped off for a nice cool drink and then one evening we called in for cocktails and sat relaxing in the very comfortable seating area. The staff are lovely and very attentive too. I am still wondering though how that pretty tall girl manages to walk in those very high heels :)

After reading all the rave reviews I was really looking forward to my meal here last Wednesday. We arrived 7.30ish and were seated beachside, the place is beautiful, we were presented with 3 breadrolls and garlic mayo but no side plates cutlery or napkins. We then sat and waited 20 minutes until I commented to my friend, not aggressively, that I was beginning to think no one was going to take our order. The waiter overhearing me, came over and took our wine order and food order, we both ordered the chicken. The friendly service seemed missing that night.
The wine was lovely, the vegetables accompanying the chicken were perfect but the chicken was a bit bland, it was also a leg and thigh, rather than a breast. I wont say I wont go again, I will, but will order something else, the pizzas looked fab. Unfortunately that night we both left feeling slightly disappointed.

I'm so sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience with us - it is unforgivable that you were left waiting so long ... I have copied your comments to all involved just now for an explanation and will write to you privately :)

I have IE Doreen and can't yet see a re-direction link- IE 8 is widely used as main browser for most people so I wonder if your technical guy is talking with his geek hat on:D
The only way I can look at your website is to change to Safari, have a look at webcam then back to my good old reliable IE.
A bit of a bind, can you twist his arm up his back??

Added after 4 minutes:

Cant seem to edit my post, so forgot to say we are looking forward to trying your restaurant - do you put your lunch time menu online at all?

I can only speak for myself, on the visits that I have been to La Terrazza del mare, I have found the choice of food and service to be above average for the area and indeed most parts of Tenerife, I would not class it as the "best" but it certainly stands out as being superior to the majority.
My friends have only last week returned from their first holiday on Tenerife and they are what maybe classed as "a bit fussy" and they were impressed by the restaurant, its food and choice of wines, they eat their on several occasions during their three week stay and only had one small criticism and that was, on one particular evening the service was a bit slow.

its a bit late my review on an absolutely outstanding restaurant and attentive staff, myself and my other half went to la terraza del mare on 16th November after a day when we did the island tour i had wanted to treat my other half to something special just for being her and making me so happy, so after arranging times etc with doreen, we arrived at the restaurant by taxi, we were greeted by the PR at the front of house who took us inside where we were shown to what i thought would have been a table within the restaurant but yo and behold we were shown to our own private candlelit booth / stage area, i was absolutely gobsmaked because i have never experienced this in any restaurant we have visited, adrian the waiter came with the menus and wine list which we made our choices, we chose a bottle of pinot grigio white wine and lasagne for a main course and chocolate desserts for afters, all i can say about this restaurant is a big thank you to doreen and her excellent staff for making our night so romantic and special, i recommend this restaurant to anybody visiting tenerife, the prices are excellent and the standard of food is out of this world, also a big thank you to the PR guy that night for sorting us a taxi back into los cristianos.

OH's sister and hubby over last week and asked me for a recommendation.

We took them here and they haven't stopped talking about it.

Absolutely superb service, friendly (not too intrusive) staff and most importantly the food is cooked to perfection and presented beautifully.

At last I've scored a house point with my sister in law..

Highly recommended..:tiphat:

How was the service, what was the food like?

Write a review to give others an idea of where to go on their jollies

We stumbled across this place on one of our trips and have never looked back since. Every visit the food has been superb, service attentive without over the top, setting is lovely, great atmosphere and is now our first stop when we visit.
Equally good for lunch and dinner.
Been too with our 10 yr old son and there was no problem, he highly recommends the meatballs.
The menu is refreshingly different from a lot of what is on offer in other places and the cheese board is to die for.
A definate must for anyone.

Hi,

We visited Terraza Del Mare, this amazing Italian restaurant in Tenerife a few months ago while were on holiday.

It was one of my favourite parts of the whole week. When we arrived in the restaurant, we were immediately made feel special and welcomed. The staff were amazing, especially Carmen and Alfonso who were serving us. The food was delicious and the restaurant was absolutely beautiful and so relaxing itself. We were also given a break between each course which was an excellent touch. Plenty of space between the exquisitely decorated tables. It was good value for money too. We watched the Tenerife sunset, while we enjoyed some wine.

I'd highly recommend this restaurant if you are visiting Tenerife. I can't wait to go again.

I've never been to this restaurant but I have heard it's lovely, and when I walk past when my work shift finishes it's always full, and I mean always, whereas other places in the vicinity are totally empty ... and the music is nice... shame about the big tv with football on LOL .... the only criticism I have is when I do morning shifts and walk past I notice the sofa covers need a bit of a clean (they are cream coloured) but i'm very OCD like that ... ack ack .... I would chose a darker colour LOL - I can't criticise further as I haven't eaten there ;) I may have to remedy that when the coffers are looking a bit healthier :D:wink2:
