OH uses flight radar 24 - when we're in Amarilla, we're on the flight path so he likes to see where the planes have come from...

I stayed in Green Park in Golf Del Sur last year and it's directly under the flight-path, and it's handy if you are going to pick up somebody from the airport

I had forgotten about radar 24.........thanks any others?

Don't forget both smartphone apps for Planefinder and Flightradar24 now do alert functions for the following transporter squawk ;
7700 General emergency
7600 Radio failure
7500 Hijack

I use that one as well Sue but only when my any of my family are either flying back to the UK or coming out here....just like to make sure they get there safely lol.. Great thing about it is when hubby is flying out here I know how long I have got to get the lover out hahaha ;)

That was a joke by the way just in case the person who doesn't like my posts is offended...

Yes, I, too, know it's a bit sad, but I also follow these sites. We are on a busy flight path from Northern Europe as well as British flights here in Cornwall, and it's nice to see where the aircraft overhead are heading for especially when they leave such nice vapour trails. Don't worry what people may think - just enjoy!
(It's also nice to dream when you identify a flight going to Kingston, Jamaica or Rio, etc.)

I often try to see how far away I can the aircraft .

I think the best I can remember was standing in Poole , Dorset and being able to still see the plane at the front of the vapor trail over Watchet in Somerset (using Plane finder as the actual location of the plane).

Just to change from air:airplane: to sea ! I got interested in tracking ships , when my son is sailing around the Antarctic for his work , his company have their own tracking system , but then there is a link to all the ships in the world , which is quite fascinating when you have time to waste ....:sailing:

And don't forget , the marine AIS tracking also shows coastguard lifeboats and coastguard helicopters too.

With the tragic loss of a red arrow at Bournemouth , I was able to track both Coastguard Helicopters from Lee on Solent and Portland to the crash scene . The crash site was dofferent to the location that Bournemouth airport air traffic control were quoting . With sites such as shipais you can see the ferries into Los Cristianos too.
