Oh dear .. I asked this about four years ago on the old Forum .... and no-one knew! May be times have changed, hope so! Don't even know what it is in Spanish to ask for it. I'm sure they would love it if only they could get it.

Washing walls and ceilings before you paint them, especially if they are greasy or coated in nicotine.

Hmm. Think that sounds more like caustic soda which is far harsher than sugar soap.

Can you use it as a general cleaner or is it too caustic?:thanx:

That's why I wanted it, Suej, just to wash down walls and woodwork, didn't even want to repaint them, just clean them without dissolving the existing paint and varnish.
Maybe someone will let us know before we do any damage!:wow:

Just checked on Amazon and a packet cost a fiver but the postage was 20 quid! So not going that route. Have to try to persuade someone to bring some out but problem is it's quite heavy and bulky.
Iceland sell White Spirit I wonder if we could put a request in for Sugar soap? ;)
Iceland sell White Spirit....... ;)
But they label it 'Chardonney'

I told the man in the ferreterias I wanted to clean the painted walls before repainting and this is what I got, you only use a spoonful of the perlas to quite a lot of warm water and the side of the bottle mentions cleaning paintwork.
It is very good because my little dog Oscar runs the side of his face along the walls and I end up with a dirty greasy stain

I have been on a huge virtual journey today via all sorts of websites trying to find sugar soap. Found some 'green' sites suggesting alternatives to all chemical cleaners. They mainly seemed to advise white vinegar and/or lemons. Better get planting lemon trees then. I've abandoned the cleaning project for now and am putting my feet up with my kindle. I found a British expat forum - worldwide - but still no-one could find sugar soap in Spain.
