I have always used Lleno, pronounced Yeno which means full, thats also what the station attendants use when they ask if you want it full, although i wouldnīt worry when you arrive almost all hire cars are sent out full and returned full. :)

I always use Lleno too, but the attendants at Hyper Trebol always say " completo " to me. Wonder if they understand what Lleno means

The word 'full' is understood usually. Especially with a nice smile and a small tip.

Although OP won't have arrived by then, the 6th of December is also a holiday. Just found this link (bit late since it's November). Hopefully they will also do 2012.

Just realised this means our builders are probably going to take the whole week off. And I bet they won't be the only ones.

Agree, the word " Full " is known, but I like to try and speak Spanish, therefore use the word Lleno as they do appreciate it when you do try and speak their language :)

I am sure you will be able to fill up the car. Most of the staff in Hiper Trebol petrol station are south American which could be why they use completo.

Donīt mean to sound funny but i really think you are worrying too much, the car will 99% certain be full when you pick it up you will make Puerto de la Cruz no problem, if you drive into a petrol station a week later and say "full" they will have heard that word a million times and will fill it.

Enjoy your holiday! :)

If all else fails just revert to the tried and tested saying it in English VERY SLOWLY and VERY LOUDLY say it few times that should do the trick. Its ridiculous that they don't speak English anyway I think they should at least make the effort after all we have flown thousands of miles to holiday in Tenerife :dontknow:
