Hola!
I was just surfing and came across this forum... Hubby & I are seriously considering moving to Europe/ Spain .. ... Tenerife??
Originally from the UK We moved to Canada 20yrs ago.. Now self aware .. We realize a pot of yogurt has more living culture than Canada and we are both feeling the need to move..
We've just returned from a 6 week driving tour of Spain and Portugal.. We thought that Mallorca would be 'it' but sadly didn't tick our boxes.. The Algarve also wasn't 'it'..
We love the Spanish Culture ~ Hate the Brit lager lout culture and want something in the middle... Somewhere where there is a lively expat community but not one that revolves around excessive drinking and smoking...
Didn't care for Marbella, Puerto Banus etc .. Loved Barcelona (surprising as we aren't 'Big City folk' ) wouldn't want to live there but great for visits...
We know Tenerife very well as In-laws retired there around 1986 and stayed for 18yrs.. We would visit for 3 weeks once a year..They were in El Lagar La Orotava, To think that we almost bought a property ourselves 20yrs ago in Los Silos for 25K !! darn it eh ..
Well, now we are trying to figure out which boxes we want ticked.. We love PDLC but would live maybe 20mins outside.. But we also love the idea of finding somewhere on the mainlaind.. Only thing is so far we haven't discovered anywhere that comes close to PDLC ...
For those living in the PDLC area are there any clubs or organizations similar to those that existed all those years ago .. For them it was called 'The Wednesday club' they met once a month and arranged activities depending on intrests.. eg ..Photography, hiking, dinners etc ..?
