We have just moved to a 3 bedroom apartment. Any info on an average monthly electricity bill would be helpful. Merry Christmas to all.

Daft question without providing any info.

Do you cook with electric or gas
Do you heat water with electric or gas

Anything from 40 to 80 Euros - depending on your answers

Depends on how many street lights are wired to your meter I guess, plus boiler on 24/7, televisions likewise, lights always on and heating the swimming pool - easy !!!!

Are there standard prices for electric such as standing charge and cents per unit or does it vary.

I have a 3 bed townhouse which is pretty much open plan from top to bottom so this time of year takes quite a bit to keep warm. The only thing that is gas is the hob on the cooker but the cooker itself is electric. My electricity bill ranges from about 70euros in warmer months to 140 euros per month this time of year. At the moment here in the hills the kids have electric blankets, we use electric heaters, towel rails and tumble dryer etc. and there are TV's and computers on all over the house as well grrr

Glad to see this thread.
We have a 1 bed with electric cooking and water heating.
There are two of us. The computer is on all day and so is the tv.
(well, almost!)
The water heater is timed.
We do a lot of cooking at home.
Our bills tend to be around 80euros for two months - I say that because one month is estimated and the next one is actually a meter reading. So - 40 euros a month on average.
We've been wondering if there is a choice of tariff - for example one which gives cheap night time electricity, or one with no standing charge when we aren't actually using any electricity (we are swallows).
Does anyone know?

9+ would know. I am mostly sure there is now night rate.

If a night rate is available in Tenerife, read the small print carefully. Neighbour of mine in the UK just signed a contract for a similar deal, 25% cheaper at night, but guess what,,,the day rate is increased by 8%, so unless you can use a lot at night you could be worse off.

2 bed apt. 3 people, all electric, computer on loads, cook in oven often, though I must admit I do buy all energy saving white goods, not the most expensive, but always grade A ...... lecky bill 65€ p/m average all year round just about..... i'd recommend you keep your electric water tank switched on permanently as it uses more electric to heat up from cold than to just leave it on. This year i've decided not to iron much, and honestly, i've cut my bill back by about 5€ a month (used to iron at least an hours worth a week, now my son does the ironing, half an hour a month). Water bill 18€ to 23€ every two months. Unelco/Endesa read the meter one month and guestimate the next, so give it a couple of months before you can fathom what average you're using, then cut back as neccessary :)

I cook most nights and always have hot water , fridge freezer ,rarely use my AC and have 2 TV's on most evenings .
My last quarter from August was 138 euros but I have been staying there full time- we are charged 18 cents per Kwh for our apartment electricity -my water is around 20-25 euros per quarter excluding drinking water .

My water bill is about 35 euros, but I can drink the water up here so don't have to buy it.
