Hi
Me and my wife are gradually working our way through the Canaries. Normally visit in October and enjoy great weather.
Thinking of visiting Tenerife for the first time this February (mid to late). Have done some research and it would seem to make sense to book in the South for the better weather.

We like to relax in the afternoons on a beach. We prefer naturist/clothing optional beaches with yellow sand and good safe swimming.
So my questions are:
Will it be warm enough (what temperatures should we expect unless unlucky)?
Which are the best beaches? Especially ones with easy access by car and some facilities.

Thank you for reading, any advice would be appreciated.

John

PS This is my first visit to this site. Having now been told I must select a prefix, I think may be I have posted in the wrong place.
Would be grate ful if anyone could post to the correct place or advise me of where and how.
thank you

Hi Golgie
Thank you very quick reply. Over 100 looks but just the one reply, so far. Found these on the map. just as an extra question where one might stop to be close to a few naturist beaches? El Madano?
Can anyone recomend a hotel with its own naturist beach or pool.
Thank you

John, Tenerife weather is not always predictable even though the temperature is way above the Uk. It can be very windy and the resultant sandblasting can make the beaches uncomfortable places to be, although you can usually find the sun along the coast. The beach at El Medano is the one on the right side of the Red Rock facing the sea. It is a fabulous beach and there appears to be nudism by the Red Rock where it is also safer to swim. Good luck with your search.

Yellow sand, none to be found in the South, as per the norm for any volcanic island the World over. Temperature well, whether nude or wearing attire no different, is it! The principal nudist beaches have been referred to already. I don,t know of any hotel specialising in this activity with the possible exception of the Med. Palace in PDLA which always allowed nudist bathing in the roof-top pool but don,t know if this is still the case.
Now you mention that you are working your way thru' the Canaries well, in the main, they don,t differ in weather by much. Just different wind patterns with sun being more prevalent in southern and western beaches! Good luck.

Thank you to all already. Last year when did similar with Grand Canaria forum got only 2 useful replies and several non useful!
Realise my yellow sand bit was a bit silly, what I really meant I suppose is not very black. So far it seems best bets are by the Red Rock, La Caleta, La Tejita and Playa de Deigo Hernandez what do you think?

Can I ask are these clothing optional or totally naturist (well almost any way). If you have been to Masapolmas sand dunes you will know what I mean. ie great beach but hundreds of textile walkers/gawpers walking along the sea shore which you have to almost push through for a swim!!!

PS
We don't like pebble/rocky beaches. Delicate little feeties!

Your delicates will be more or less safe at El Medano. As for "walkers/gawkers who I call the "binocular brigade" well you,ll probably have to encounter a few auld doddery "English Gentlemen" out bird-watchin'. As for clothing it was always optional years ago but may have changed with the passage of time. Regarding other Forums (or Foruii) well I think others will agree that you,ll not find another like this one and you can take that whatever way you may wish!

John, this is Deigo Hernandez (La Caleta) . A small natural cove with yellow sand (not black sand). Frequented by locals, Germans, and very occasionally British.

It can be a great beach to relax, swim/dive with fish (as big a 10 inches), and to observe the tourist catamarans that come into shore. Hard to get to - requires good walking shoes. Often , the high tides wash away the beach. Swimming in the (big) waves can be VERY dangerous - believe me :( .

At 15 seconds, you will see a boat washed ashore - kind of give you an idea of the strength of the currents ;)

Great Vortex Wake. I never expected videos (or even videii). Beach looks very good, although not large. Will need to judge the tides and wind. This is all very useful.

How long to walk from car to the beach please?

How very dare you Sir,I can assure you that when i'm down at Playa El Medano my 2000 x magnification night vision googles, miners helmet, neoprene washing-up gloves and leather chaps are purely for my long standing interest in aircraft at the nearby (well 2km!!) airport.

Just ask CIM :bootyshake:

Hi John,

You'll have to count this post as another useless one!! ;)

Not all people in clothes that stray onto nudist beaches are there to look!! Many years ago when in Gran Can we decided to take a stroll on Maspalomas and on the dunes we saw what looked like a stick jutting out of the sand - on much closer inspection it wasn't a 'stick' after all - we couldn't get off the beach quick enough!! :shy:

On a more serious note, welcome to The Forum and hope you find a beach that suits. :)

Te villiage of la Caleta woud be very close but you would need to be in las americas
for the entertainment. 20 min bus ride from las americas St Eugenio area
El Meadno is lovely but could be cold at this time of year.
Have fun

I have got to ask, what is the attraction or maybe a better word is benefit of walking or laying about in your birthday suit?

Is it a form of exhibitionism or just liking to admire someone else's body? ???

I love swimming naked - it's a fantastic feeling, but I save it for when we hire a villa with a private pool. Wouldn't want to scare anyone!! ;)

Mind you I did swim topless in that lovely residential complex we've found as the pool was empty and no-one could see!! :D

I did wonder what the attractions are, as the only admiring looks I get when I am naked is from the reflection in the mirror.:D

El Medano is my favourite beach, and you can also practise nudism

For hotels with naturist sunbathing areas try Costa Adeje Gran, Fanabe Costa Sur and Noelia Sur. The Mediterranean Palace previously mentioned no longer has such an area. I could be wrong but I think the only one with a naturist pool might be the Fanabe.
