We will be heading back mid January for a couple of weeks, taking a nice drive down through France and Spain to catch the ferry from Huelva to Santa Cruz.

Do you book a cabin for the crossing, if you do what are they like ? We have considered taking our car from Tenerife to Spain but not sure about the sleeping aspect - dont really fancy reclining seats - sounds uncomfortable.

We do the Brittany Ferry crossing every year between UK/Spain on the Pont Aven and have a cabin

We always book a cabin for the crossing the recliners are so uncomfortable, also get the bono ticket for the restaurant from the desk at the duty free, very good value as the ticket covers all meals on the crossing, the cabins are very comfortable and you can shower in the morning when you get up.

I did the drive from Scotland down to Southampton/Cherbourg then down through France to Portugal via Huelva a few years go now (30) that's a long pull ! I think we did it over 3 days stopping at Saumur then Valladolid , before there were any motorways !
No garage in Spain accepted credit cards !

We usually take seven or eight days to get down as we have two ferries to use, one from Ireland to France and of course the ferry from Huelva to Tenerife. It is a lovely trip down. We also usually stay at Ibis Hotels as they are reasonably priced and offer a very good night sleep.
