I usually use the universal tourist language of saying it a few times getting louder each time then walking away cursing because them stupid locals cannot speak English, its a disgrace you'd think they would learn to speak English since we have went to the bother of visiting their country.

Just go to metcheck.com Tenerife and you can get a six month forcast, but like most of these sites the readings are taken from halfway up a mountain on the north of the island and have very little to do with the south of Tenerife...Hopefully!!:laugh:

What's life like on el hierro

I have by mistake deleted the previous post. For us life on El Hierro is good, we are retired so do not need employment.

The island is smaller than the Isle of Wight, 274 KM sq., with a population of around 7000, of which four are English residents.

The brash tourism that affected the south of the larger islands passed us by, consequently El Hierro has retained its unique Herreño culture and charm. Because of our isolation few tourists arrive, those that do tell me that the island reminds them of how it was in Northern Europe 50 years ago. The tourist that do arrive come for the Walking, Scuba diving, or just to chill out, the island is criss crossed with many footpaths, the Scuba diving is world famous, and chilling out, well, I live here……..

We do not have; Scottish full breakfast, Roast beef Yorkshire pudding Bisto gravy, Tetleys ale, Sky T.V. full match tonite Establishments. Local tastes are catered for, it is Canarian cuisine, with a few South American dishes, that are catered for, we have many restaurants, most have menus in English, sometimes very humorous translations.

The local people are very friendly, people here smile and say Hola, crime is almost unknown, the young are very polite and respect their elders.

All visitors are welcome, but if you want night life then El Hierro is not for you, apart from August when the whole island goes on the razzle.

The countryside is very diverse, very pretty, with some spectacular views. see the photos in the link below.

We have flights to and from Tenerife north and south, Gran Canaria, and ferries from Los Cristianos.

Thanks,after years of travelling around mainland Spain it will be nice to see Tenerife at last,the only part i wont enjoy is the flying,we usually drive from the UK through France and onto wherever we are staying in Spain which can mean three days in the car as we like to go via as many different places as we can and have found some very interesting,if long ways to get from A to B but i would much rather do this than spend 4 hrs in a tin box at 35,000 ft

Hi all!

As you can tell I am new here, it is 26 days until I fly out to Tenerife for the second time this year already. I'm thinking about moving over there, as my partner has already moved.

First time I had been to Tenerife or anywhere really on holiday was in January, and I loved it, just unfortunately we all ended up getting colds so didn't get to do all we wanted to do like Siam Park etc, but we had a good time and soon as I get home I booked my flights for March to spend my Birthday in the sun lol :)
