We (me, the hubby and 12 year old son) were at the
Bitacora May 2007
Great hotel, walking distance to all the pubs and beaches.
Well maintained gardens, very clean pool area.
The rooms are big enough for 3 to share without treading on each other.
Cleaners came daily.
The food is fantastic I could have eat three breakfasts every day.
Even my son (who is a pain to feed) loved the meals.
All the staff are very friendly
Can't comment on the entertainment as we like to go round the pubs and meet as many people as possible.
We have just booked to go back in August, would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for 4 star accommodation.

I would give 5 rating

I always stay at the Bitacora because it is predictable in its cleanliness, good quality of service and the food is always fantastic. Although the first impression of the exterior is of a typical 70’s hotel, inside it is spacious, modern and updated http://www.tenerifeforum.com/images/smilies/smile.png

Located 10 minutes walk from Playa Las Vistas (LC), 15 minutes walk from Playa Troya (PDLA) and close to the main shopping and bar areas makes it ideal (without being on-top of the noisy night pub/club scene). There are also mini markets within 150 yards from front and back too.

The cost savings by booking direct with the Hotels web site means I can have 10 days for the price of 7 (compared to a package holiday price), I get a free ‘VIP’ Taxi both ways without ANY queuing or waiting on a coach 45 minutes to fill up - 55 minutes from plane landing to sitting on the beach is my record http://www.tenerifeforum.com/images/smilies/eusa_whistle.gif

At breakfast time the spacious food hall gets busy from about 8:30am although it opens a 7am. Evening time is less hectic after 8:30 pm, opening is at 6:30pm. Evening requires you to be shown to your table – drinks costs are on top of (half/full) board allowance. No beach clothing is allowed at evening sittings. The quality of food and choice available always delights every time I visit and is a real plus point http://www.tenerifeforum.com/images/smilies/eusa_clap.gif

‘Superior’ rooms overlook the pools and are south and west facing. Rooms have safe hire, toiletries, mini bar (charges apply) and are cleaned regularly http://www.tenerifeforum.com/images/smilies/tenerife-forum-shower-smiley.gif If requesting a non-superior room, try asking for a room NOT facing the (disused/dilapidated) Parrot Park as some see this as an eyesore on the northern boundary - literally http://www.tenerifeforum.com/images/smilies/tongue.png

When I visit in March/November the clientele, many of which are regulars, are mainly more mature in age – fine by me. Internet access is provided by four, pay-per-use PC’s, and by FREE wifi coverage in the lower food hall level – excellent if you have your wifi enabled phone or laptop with you. There is a games room for the kids. Entertainment includes traditional dancing and retro-pop singing acts. The staff are efficient and work jolly hard http://www.tenerifeforum.com/images/smilies/smile.png

5 stars from me!

Edit: April 2009

Since writing my review I have been to the Bitacora, a further 3 times (which speaks for itself).

I often think of trying the cheaper self catering apartment option again, but somehow still end up booking the Bitacora, maybe because being single, love the location and I like to know what I am getting (and enjoy the great foodhttp://www.tenerifeforum.com/images/smilies/smile.png )

Booking online for 7days+ mean the VIP taxi service is free (and gets you to the hotel far quicker than the package tour bus option). This time, I specified a specific top floor corner room, and got it. This allowed excellent views across most of PDLA/ Los Cristianos.

The food is vary varied and is still great and I even got welcomed back by the restaurant staff and restaurant manager which was very nice.

Having a hotel club card also meant I could keep my room up until departure at 5PM. This means that you can have a full day on the beach and still shower and change ready for the flight home. Specifying you own taxi departure time means you can leave late, arrive after the package holiday people have been checked in at the airport and get a row of 3 seats on the aircraft to yourself - fantastic :http://www.tenerifeforum.com/images/smilies/eusa_clap.gif

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I never had tea making facilities in my room so always took a small kettle (that was about 3 years ago). You may be able to hire a kettle from reception (?).

You could ask direct http://www.springhoteles.com/

Good to see....... looks kinda like Laguna Park 2's restaurant!!!!!!

In all my stays in Tenerife, I've always got an electric kettle or at least pots and pans....in whatever accommodation.

I always use Tesco Decaff, as most places make 'orrible tea (including places run by Brits and Irish...... Spanish are worse!!), and Barraquitos con o sin when
out.

S'pose I'll be eaten alive now.:hide:

Yes! But you're talking about apartments aren't you?
Hotels never seem to have tea making facilities. They expect you to pay extra for that!
I would bring a travel kettle. :spin:

First of all you have picked a good hotel in a great location,Some fantastic restaurante's also within a few minutes walk! Buy a bono bus card and take a few trips around the Island, the bus stops are just around the corner from the Bitacora! The Safari centre is almost opposite and its nice to stroll in that area at night! When changing money use the exchange next to restaurante Montana, which you will find opposite Hotel La Siesta which is just around the corner!
