It certainly is but wrap up warm at this time of year.

Yes I'd recommend it :)

You can park at the foot of mount Teide .

The drive from Los Cristianos takes about an hour or so'ish ;)

Thanks for the replies. We are out in July/August (done the drive up to Tiede a few times -love it !)
One more question - is the Observatory in the Tiede park open to the public ?

There is a visitor centre but I'm not sure if it's open to the general public or whether you have to be on a booked trip

Drove up a few weeks ago at night, fantastic display in the heavens, but wrap up warm it was freezing.
