Some tips
Enquire at your local job centre about "job seeking in Europe" or look here (http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/JCP/Customers/Living_and_working_in_Europe/index.html)
If you are eligible for an E106 bring it with you, if not make sure you have a European Health Card (https://www.ehic.org.uk/Internet/home.do)to cover you for medical emergencies.
Take some Spanish classes before you come if you can't already speak the language.
You probably need to make sure that you have at least a couple of months living money and a return ticket just in case things go wrong.
Make sure your UK passport is in order and is not about to expire anytime soon.
You will probably do do better looking for work if you are already here.
Here is a very rough outline list to start you off for further research on the paperwork you need:
If you are staying 3 months or less
1) apply for an NIE number at the National Police station here or at your nearest Spanish embassy or consulate in the UK before you come here.
OR
If you are staying more than 3 months
1a) get a base to live - ask for your apartment rental contract in Spanish and from there you can register at your new local town hall for a "certificado de empadronamiento"
1b) Use 1a to apply for a "Certificado de registro" at the National Polcie Station (includes an NIE number at the same time)
--------------------------------
2) apply for a Social security number at the Seguridad Social
with those documents you can then work legally.
Good luck
