Are you mad or have you just been in tenerife for too long?

Probably a bit of both!:D

.... it's just that we have had this enquiry many times before and it always ends up in hilarity  Existing members will recall this and do not realise that being a new member, you have no idea of the past postings about this. Try doing a search and you will see the previous chaos :wow:

As primrose has already said, Guaza car boot sale on a Sunday morning is a good bet

WOMBAT

OK I will try there! Thanks for the help, I think!

Seriously though, you need to know exactly what colour bottle you need because they will only be refilled with the appropriate gas for that colour bottle and trying to use one gas on an appliance designed for another is very dangerous

Come on MIke, I have lived here for over 15 years and I do have a vague idea of what I need. You are obviously enjoying trying to complicate things. My god, you must be a Canarian politician!

That was a serious reply, you realy will find quite a few for sale at the car boot.

So sorry! I was actually trying to help.

Good luck with your search

I am grateful, please don't think otherwise. It just seems that from a simple request a whole discussion about gas bottles has ensued. I am guessing this is probably a uniquely British thing. Are we Brits all strange or is it everyone else?

WOMBAT I think Mike was just trying to help as on a previous thread someone had paid a fair bit for a gas bottle only to find they couldn't get it filled and because you asked earlier if there was a difference in colour, there is! and they are for different uses! btw It's everyone else that strange not us!!!

Its a serious medical problem unique to this forum, its known as ....gaseousbottleehilarity and is highly
contagious, one particular member named Tony suffers badly from it, as of yet there is no known cure.:crying2:

Hi Wombat, The reason why "Gas Bottles" raise a smile on here goes back to the old forum days when a similar thread turned into an epic and was very amusing, we are a nice easygoing bunch really!

p.s Never ask where to find the milk in Mercadona either :D thats another story

The whole blue/silver gas bottle story is very complicated and caused serious grief between a couple of people on here whilst the rest looked on and were very entertained.
Since then every time gas bottles are talked about memories come back.

All is well with the world - a gas bottle thread, oh joy!

On a serious note, the one you will probably need is the 14kg bottle which grey in colour.
This bottle has a "plug in" connector on top and the regulator on your hose plugs in the top of the bottle (blue regulator) and you then "turn down" the small black lever on the regulator to secure it on the bottle.
If you take one of these bottles (empty) to a DISA garage they will replace with a full one,the current cost at the DISA garage at Las Chafiras is 14.90 euro's for a replacement.

Job done. Got one. It is a lovely colour and fits in so well with the décor of my yard! How lucky am I?

Thats great news, did you finally go for the pink one with yellow spots on it or the blue one with gold stars at the bottom?

In the end I went for a brilliantly understated silver grey with some unintelligibly smudged text in black and a delicate, but very attractive, trim of rust. How lovely it is, and How lucky am I
