If you are in Puerto de la Cruz and in the La Paz area you may want to try eating at Alvaro's tennis club where you can sit outdoors in a gazebo tent, indoors in the restaurant or on the balcony overlooking the tennis and padel courts and watch the activity there.

The food is good and they do a marvelous steak and red pepper bocadillo on a crusty roll, as well as more elegant dishes such as pork tenderloin in mushroom cream sauce with cranberry sauce and German panfried potatoes. They also have a daily menu announced on the chalkboard at the street entrance.

They have been having some occasional BBQ and Jazz events on Sundays and I went today for the second time, meeting some friends there from my Pilates class.
The music was good and the abundant food was excellent. Here's what we had (http://canarybird.smugmug.com/photos/swfpopup.mg?AlbumID=21888126&AlbumKey=WNsXFL) to eat today. (short slideshow of 12 photos)

The official name of the club where the restaurant is located is "Centro Deportivo y de Ocio Puerto de la Cruz", but it's also known as Alvaro's Tennis Club, and is just down the road from the Botanical Garden and Trebol Supermarket, on the same side of the street, going in direction towards Teide.

As far as I know the restaurant is open all day and until late evening. They also have a selection of tapas.
