Ok so I was looking for some spiritual sites here on the island and was told there were Pyramids here. Has anyone visited them and are they commercialised or natural. Any info would be apppreciated thanks.

They are at Guimar. The site was investigated by Thor Hyerdhal of "Kon Tiki" and "Ra" fame. He tried to show that pyramids all over the world shared a common knowledge of building techniques i.e. the pyramids in South America and the ones on Tenerife are "stepped" pyramids so Thor reckoned that someone got to the Americas a long while before Columbus. That was why he built the Kon Tiki, to prove that people could have sailed across the Atlantic in reed boats.
I've been to the site twice over the years and it's an enjoyable and interesting visit. There are replicas of the reed boats he sailed at Guimar as well.

oh my god the pyramids... hahah! my ex took me to the guimar pyramids on our 1st date just over 4 years ago (ive been here 19years and i had never heard of them before i didnt believe they existed)
i was pretty impressed to say the least and you can watch a short video about it all aswell which is good.
It aint a massive massive area but its big enough & theres a cafe and souvenir shop there too...

i would definetly suggest a day up there.

The pyramids were actually built as late as some time during the 19th century, but no one knows by whom, or why.

Anyone know if DNA comparisons were made between the Guanches and Scandinavians?

I think I read somewhere that they shared DNA with the Berbers of North Africa.

Yes I read that too. And when I looked into a bit further I came across a completely unintelligible site about all kinds of DNA and J1´s and J´2´s http://leherensuge.blogspot.com/2009/08/ancient-guanche-y-dna.html

Can you make sense of it?

Sorry Rosemary, but that's just double-dutch to me! It looks more like a mathematical equation than a DNA search!
