Hi. I need some advice on my situation. My sony vaio 17' laptop series VGN is broken. There is something wrong with motherboard. Computer is 3 years old, still like new. I can't fix it myself. Everywhere I go they say that I should just throw it to the bin coz no one is interested in laptops anymore. I'll like to sell it somewhere for parts or find a place where they can fix it, but there is no one in Los Cristianos who can help me.Do you know the place I can get help and discuss it in English?

Unfortunately, a 3 year year old laptop with a motherboard fault is indeed worth virtually nothing. It has a small residual value for parts (RAM, Hard Drive & power supply) and I suggest that inviting offers for the laptop here on the forum, would be better than throwing it in the bin. I would bid :)

What do you think is wrong with mobo? Most faults can be cleared with effort

If you can get your laptop repaired on a "no win, no fee" basis for a price you are happy paying, then go for it. Let us know you get on.

I have a Sony Viao PCG-5A1M that has stopped powering up recently. I think it's probably a Power Supply issue. Is this worth fixing? Otherwise, open to offers. :)

It would be nice to have this lappy working again, as I could use it in my classroom with the kids, but I don't want to get it fixed if it will cost more than it's worth... it may not even be the power supply...
