The Spanish resort of Salou near Barcelona is going to hand out fines to holidaymakers who disregard the red safety flags flying when it is dangerous to go swimming because of sea/weather conditions. They may be fined £300...

Should be at least 300€ and maybe more.These idiots risk the lives of other people who have to go in and rescue them.What the law should do is make it illegal to rescue them if the red flag is flying and then it wouldn't affect anyone else. I watched tourists in Puerto de la Cruz cross over a Police cordon which said " do not pass beyond this point" and then they went into the sea.The red flag was also flying. Three local lads with surf boards went in to fetch them out.

Remember the rockfall at Los Gigantes a few years back? If those sunbathers hadn't crossed the taped off area they'd still be alive...
