Why can't I reply to PMs

Why is it, when I try to reply to a PM. I have nowhere to type! Oh I get a shedload of stupid smiley faces and Icons, whatever they may be, but NOWHERE TO TYPE! How dumb is that?

I have taken a look as you kindly suggested, but on my page the space to type is greyed out and the cursor will not land there. In fact the only place it will land is in the title box!

Look for the little triangle bottom right and drag the box open.

I am amazed. Now, and for the first time, it is working. I can actually type on the page. I did not even have to tug at the drag to enlarge triangle. But if it gives me any more gyp, I will try that first.
