mr hatton? which one is it ? the wife beating, drug addict, ex boxer or the ex councillor who sacked 1,000 employees by taxi delivery of final notice to quit?
Which ever one it is I certainly would not prefix their names with a "mr" both caused untold suffering to many innocents and do not deserve any respect.

Hey people.

I've just joined your fine forum but thought i would just chip in a say that i too saw Ricky Hatton in Taylors Lounge, a week or so back. I was going to ask for my photo taken with him but he was having a drink with his wife and i didnt want to pester him.
Then a few days later i saw the Chris Kamara just wandering along the coastal path in Los Chris :-)

Sat behind Brian May on the flight here a few years ago - when BA still came to the island. It was great - he got escorted from the plane, we tagged on right behind and got straight through immigration to find the bags already on the belt. they obviously couldn't tell which was his so they got them all off! Out of the airport within 15 minutes of landing!

Also, we used to have a bar on San Blas, and once had Chrissy Hind on the terrace.

brian is a regular visitor due to his links to the teide observatory.
May studied physics at Imperial College London, graduating with a BSc (Hons) degree in both Physics and Mathematics and ARCS with Upper Second-Class Honours. He then proceeded to study for a PhD degree, also at the Imperial College London departments of Physics and Mathematics, and was part way through this PhD programme, studying reflected light from interplanetary dust and the velocity of dust in the plane of the Solar System, when Queen became successful. He abandoned his physics doctorate but did co-author two scientific research papers: MgI Emission in the Night-Sky Spectrum (1972) and An Investigation of the Motion of Zodiacal Dust Particles (Part I) (1973), which were based on May's observations at the Teide Observatory in Tenerife. He is the co-author of Bang! ? The Complete History of the Universe with Patrick Moore and Chris Lintott, which was published in October 2006.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVOmf28QGEQ&feature=relatedmet him several times, my mate(who's a millionaire) used to book him for his garden party's, one of the funniest things i have seen is when he came off stage after one of his shows to loud applause and my young nephew going up to him to shake his hand and removing it at the last second to put it up to his nose and make a funny gesture lol, i thought for one minute he was going to slap him, but he saw the funny side and just laughed it off, he is appearing at another one of my friends private party's in november at bescot;)

make sence in print-they need the context of the previous one. I suppose that's their skill. They're fab!!!!!!:tiphat: :tiphat: :tiphat: :tiphat:

Although there are loads of really great guitarists in PDLA, I have always thought that Dave has the edge over them all. Freddie very under-rated musician/singer. I was over last month and Dave was off for a few day and there was a stand in guitarist (tough slot to fill) The guy (Frank) did very well, but it was Freddie who really shone that night and definately earned his money that night. Funny guy to boot.

No sure he qualifies as a celebrity anymore but not long (weeks) after Big Ron used the wrong words to describe the colour of a player on air I saw him loitering outside the VIP lounge entrance at Reina Sofia as if deciding weather to go in.

As I walked past couldn't help but pass comment:

"Sorry Ron but after last week I think your days of being VIP are gone now !"

Clearly knowing what I was referring to he give a rueful smile saying "aye thats the price you pay" !

mr hatton? which one is it ? the wife beating, drug addict, ex boxer or the ex councillor who sacked 1,000 employees by taxi delivery of final notice to quit?
Which ever one it is I certainly would not prefix their names with a "mr" both caused untold suffering to many innocents and do not deserve any respect.

lol. mike hunt you sound more like a rike hunt! lol.
Ricky hatton the boxer is a legend! He was a great fighter to watch!

I find the title of this thread deeply depressing every time I come across it in the index. Who the *@*! cares whether there are celebrities on the island or anywhere for that matter. In the name of sanity why don't people just grow up? Celebrities are the scourge of modern life on this planet and the fawning after them is incomprehensible to me. Pathetic.
Celebrities are NOBODY'S.....end of story. Oh how I wish!

Yes you do know. We all know. It is one of the WORST aspects of human nature to fawn over actors or entertainers or any person who has for whatever reason appeared on either television or the silver screen, or in photos in the media, enough times to become recognisable. It is PATHETIC, SAD, JUVENILE. But OMG yes, it is human nature. Wanna be a part of that?

Wanna be a part of that?i think that you are probably in the minority, i think that when people meet celebs they automatically become starstruck whether it is right or wrong, i myself have paid hundreds of pounds over the years for signed memorabilia, i have terence alexander and john nettles because i loved bergerac, every one from auf wiedersehen pet, gary holton being the most expensive, george cole and dennis waterman from minder, ray reardan john lowe and norman wisdom for my wife to name but a few, they are all investments but also a bit of acting and sporting history;)

I was an actress in another chapter of my life, and I met and worked with many famous names in the business. Every one of us is 'starstruck' over certain other well known actors or entertainers. One of my very best friends a woman whom I will not name but is a household name, once got into a lift with an American movie star. She started to chat to him as if she had met him, even asked how he was....then realised who he was. Shock, embarrassment and a good laugh.. It happens. It's a very natural and understandable reaction. This is not what I was criticising or referring to. I was talking about members of the public who actively seek out celebrities by going to areas where they think they might be for whatever reason, and who regard anyone, yes even TV presenters and newsreaders as demi gods because they have appeared on TV.

Collecting signatures for investment purposes is quite another subject.

Where you get the idea that just because I once spent many happy years having a great time making a living doing something I loved, I would now be 'bitter and twisted' and full of 'bile' (??) I do not know.

But yes, I do detest the 'celebrity culture' of this modern age because IMHO....

a it diminishes the dignity of the individual and promotes the wrong values in life to people, especially the young.
b it is driven by commercialism - as in selling 'personalities' in order to make money i.e. advertising everything and anything
c it is driven by the mass media, purely in order to sell newspapers.
d it promotes the idea that fame is more important than success in one's own life.

No, I do not believe it is harmless.

Was down in Adeji last night in one of the bars where they play live music,i had to look twice and thought no it can't be, and the missus said is that Billy Mitchell from Eastenders and said I was thinking the same thing,a couple next to us must have overheard us and said yes it is.
He seemed to be by himself but a lot of people where coming over to him to have there picture taken with him and was mingling and chatting to people and seemed to be enjoying all the attention he was getting.
What with meeting Jasmin Karman a few weeks back I wonder who will be next.

No, I do not believe it is harmless.although i have found some of your comments a little harsh rosemary;) i do agree with you about point A, you only have to look at the likes of miley sirus, what a silly girl she is, if anyone has seen the pics of her video or indeed the video itself then you will know what i mean, and this girl is targeting young audiences, the trouble is, artists do something outrageous so the next newcomer has to better it, no doubt she has been influenced by lady ga ga, who delights in going for a night out in bra and knickers???, i dont know about any one else but i like to see my wife dressed in a tight short skirt nice blouse and high heel shoes, and i like the surprise of whats underneath later not shoved in your face to start with, where is the fun in that;)

Big Ron and Willie Thorne on our flight out - Christ Willie is a big fella (no pun intended)
Chris Kamara - walking about in LC
Jo Brand - Medano beach with hubby
Ricky Hatton - Players - sat behind him a few times (next door) as he always sits in the same place. Great with anyone who wants a picture or autograph
Carol Klein - in North n South
John Lowe - numerous times in Bill Baileys (or whatever the bar was called at Reina Sofia)
Sean Ryder (September this year) having a beer near Playa Troya about 11am on his own

Gosh? Is that a posh Scottish word!

Oh no, its origin is English and is now widely used by intellectual people of great wealth.:p

Gosh meaning.....

A word that is used in surprise or severe shock.

Examples of usage.....

"oh my gosh, you just fell out of the 20th floor! are you ok?"
"Gosh mummy, mummy why can't i go bungee jumping off the bridge with a bad cord?"
"oh my gosh! there's young Jonathan drinking a glass of beer!"

Oh no!

In reply to my explanation of the word, "Gosh" would have to be prefixed with the word "Jolly", then it would have more impact on its usage.:D

I know he came through the private sector at TFS and I couldn't see him for the crowd of officials who were there to see him through safely. What a scrum!

I saw Speedy Gonzales, well I think it was him.there are 7 or 8 fast and furious films altogether. number 6 was filmed on parts of TF1.there were a number of reasons that they filmed there. one being the climate.another being tax credits. the lowest in europe at 4%. reported to have saved the film makers over $20 million.cooperation of the government(that blows a hole in the $20 mill:lol:) they closed off a large part of TF1 for weeks at a time. and even agreed to re surface parts of the motorway to make it look billiard smooth.and the other reason was the tenerifian officials told them they could do what they wanted. including blowing up bridges, wrecking cars and even running world war two tanks over the pavements:wow:. i wonder how thick the brown envelopes had to be for that:lol:

I do not understand! Soaps??soaps is a term used here in the uk to describe soap operas. like long running serials. as an example coronation street, emmerdale farm, eastenders etc etc. in the case of coronation street it has been on our tv's for around 60 years. and a different episode is shown at least 4 times a week:wink2:

They are called soap operas because the early ones in America had adverts by soap companies and the lady of the house had the tv or radio on whilst doing domestic chores.
