SUNDAY 29th April - kick off Midday

CD Tenerife vs Real Oviedo

This was always going to be a big game but I donīt think anyone could imagine just how big. With Oviedoīs victory against leaders Real Madrid B yesterday they have caught up to be just 1 point from the the play-off zone.

If we can win it would go along way to sealing our play off place.

2ND B - Top four go into play-offs.

1) Real Madrid Castilla 71
2) Albacete 59
3) Lugo 59
4) Tenerife 58
5) R.Oviedo 57
6) At.Madrid B 54
7) Rayo B 53

Hi there, this is my first post. My name is Menno, I'm from Amsterdam in Holland, but currently staying in southern Tenerife. I would love to drive up to Santa Cruz for the Tenerife vs Oviedo game on Sunday.

'Fred Perry': do you happen to be Chris Todd...?

I've visited ArmadaSur.com, read about you and found a link to you Facebook page. We both wear Fred Perry and we like the same music. :spin: You seem to be The Man Who Knows Everything.

Do you think it will be possible to buy a ticket at the ground on match day? Or will this game sell out?

Also: where are the Armada Sur in the ground?

Cheers,

- Menno

There will almost certainly be tickets available on the day I can not see any chance this will sell out
Tickets can also be bought in the Soy del Tete shop in Playa Faņabe

Massive game, if we win on Sunday the next weeks games might decide the issue of play off places as far as we are concerned as the gap would be 4points with 6 left to play for Vamos Venga TeTe

It looks as if the general feeling amongst fans is that the jeering of the players will be put on hold for now and everyone will be behind the team 100%.
It really will be a special atmosphere next Sunday, it is the 25th anniversary of the Frente Blanquiazul, it is a crucial "season defining" match for both sides and there are likely to be a fair amount of away fans.

2-0 to CDT at half time.

Surprisingly open game given the stakes. A lot of chances at both ends, could have been a few more goals scored. Our top scorer Perona scoring early after poor defending. Real Oviedo really should have equalized but thankfully their player managed to miss an open goal when it looked easier to score. Sergio had to make a brilliant save to keep it at 1-0 soon after.

And then Perona scoring his second of the game almost at the half time whistle, again poorly defended but great ball in by the impressive Chechu & Perona headed it powerfully in. Great stuff!

A few surprises in the CDT starting line up. Sergio R (who has hardly featured all season) starting as right back in place of the (almost) ever-present Cristobal (probably due to some type of injury to Cristobal surely?). Luismi Loro dropped from the starting eleven with Aridane starting upfront with Perona. And our only specialist defensive midfielder Kitoko starting his first game after a fairly lengthy injury spell, really great to see him back, he will be instrumental if and when we make it to the play-offs.

It also looked like we have reverted to a 4-4-2 formation, although the formation is a bit flowing throughout a game.

Added after 49 minutes:

3-0 to CDT the Final Score!

Hell to the Yeah!!! Great great result in this extremely crucial game with all 3 goals scored by Perona.

The second half started much like the first finished with both teams still on the attack. Real Oviedo nearly scored early on but Sergio made another fantastic save. Real Oviedo brought their top scorer Manu Busto on at half time & he immediately caused problems.

Not surprisingly, as they were behind & chasing the game, Real Oviedo started the second half strongly. But after the initial storm the game evened itself out a bit & Real Oviedo didn’t really threaten. And then Perona put the game to bed completing his hat-trick from the penalty spot after being clearly fouled.

Not sold on Victor Bravo playing in the middle of the midfield, I feel he is much more useful on the left. Plus he likes to keep the ball & gets caught in possession in dangerous areas. I’d rather see Zazo or Marcos in that role next to Kitoko.

Zazo came on for Chechu around the 60 min mark, hopefully just a normal tactical substitution & not because of injury to Chechu as he is a very important player to us on the right side of midfield creating quite a lot from there & with great set piece deliveries.

But all in all a fantastic, if slightly flattering, result which goes a long way towards securing a play-off spot. A lot of positives from this game for sure.

Yes, very important three points and along with the Real Madrid Castilla 3-1 home win the best all round performance of the season by CD Tenerife today. We looked like a team again after this batch of bad results, we are better balanced and obviously Kitoko making his comeback makes a big differance.
Lugo and Albacete both drew this weeknd against lower opposition so it has worked out very nicely. We just now need 2/3 points from last 2 games to be sure of qualification for the play-offs. I am feeling more confident after today, so bring it on!

Albacete managed a late draw. (They were losing to Conquense)
This puts us third with still an option for second place.
It was a great game and one if those I certainly will look back on happy to have been there
I expect the Alcala game to be much busier especially as the club still has the special half price offer on.

Opened this thread expecting the worst after the past few weeks. Really pleased for all CD Tenerife fans, whatever their nationality.
