This was not a trip that was planned but due to the cheap(ish) prices, the importance of the game and the fact that we could get to Madrid and back on the same day a few of us decided to go. We were really dependant on the Ryan Air taking off on time at 7am because with a Midday kick off time it would leave us only 1 hour to get to the stadium which was 42km the other side of Madrid.
I said beforehand that if we could get out of the airport and were sitting in a cab at 11.15 I would be happy. Well, we pulled away at 11.12am so we were on time! The taxi cost 65€ rolleyes2: but it was the only way to get to Majadahonda(where Atletico B play) on time.

Boarding the plane at 6.30am, the blurred picture sums up how we felt at that time of the morning, so no apologies.

Banners were displayed. This was half-time and Tenerife fans were sprinkled around the stadium, 60 or so in total, which isnīt bad considering the run we are on and playing in a training ground.

Half time posers. It was a great trip apart from the result (which it what I always say after a CDT away day!)

Added after 29 minutes:

We will skip the game itself :agree:. Neither side deserved the victory to be honest. I really do not think that the effort is missing by the majority of players but the anxiety shown is huge. The young Atletico players revelled in that and were appluaded by the home fans even if they messed up.

In the corner of the stand was an Atletico Fan club. Probably Europeīs oldest Ultra Group with a combined age of over 300 years (there were only 5 of them). They gave it their all for 90 minutes though so fair play.

You could just see the capital in the distance. This area of Madrid (Majadahonda) is a classy district. Even the trees in the woods are sculputured.

After the defeat we were gagging for a beer. The lads hunted down the nearest bar and I stayed around to talk to the directors and waited for player Pablo Sicilia. I bumped into ex Tenerife and Atletico Madrid player Carlos Aguilera.
After an hour or so we caught the bus back to the center of Madrid.

We had half an idea to go and watch Atletico Madrid vs Espanyol at 6pm but decided against it because our return flight was at 9pm and we would have needed to leave the game early and with tickets at 50€...
So, we went to The Bernabeu for the famous tour. At 16€ it was worth the money. I have been many times but the rest of the lads hadīnt. As a football fan it is interesting to see such a great stadium, the history and sit in the dug outs etc. Strange to be in the changing room just days before Bayern Munich will be there, one lad was thinking about hiding in the lou until Wed. night.

Banner was unfurled on the pitch. We need to get the banner back here on "active service" as in a Real Madrid v Tenerife game and not on a "holiday visit" like yesterday.

Time was moving on and we headed back to the airport for our return flight. Another good day out which did not cost and arm & leg. It is not easy following CD Tenerife at present but we have to keep the faith. Next away trip hopefully will be a play-off final in May/June.
Respect to all the supporters that made their way to Madrid yesterday, Dave all the way from Leicester, Nikki, Carlos, the guy that came on the train from Barcelona and the crazy day trippers.
