Resource

The Windows Resource Monitor is a hidden, Windows 7-only feature that provides an overview of your system's peformance, along with detailed information about processor, memory, disk and network useage.

To open the monitor, click Start and type resmon and press Enter, You can use the tool to identify resource hogs; to start, stop, suspend and resume processes and services; and to troubleshoot problematic programs

Delete

If you're having a Spring-clean on your computer by clearing out unwanted files, the need to confirm every deletion manually can become tedious. Speed up your clear-up by disabling the notification that appears when you choose Delete.

Right-click the Recycle Bin, choose Properties and, on the Global tab, deselect the option 'Display delete confirmation dialog'. Click OK and any files you delete will be sent directly to the Recycle BIn.

Caps Lock Key

Use only if you're confident/competent! Use at your own risk.

Pressing the Caps Lock by accident can mean wasting time typing and then deleting upper-case text. If you often hit the key by accident why not disable it and just press Shift when you need a capital letter?

Open the Registry Editor and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Keyboard Layout

Right-click the right-hand pane and choose New, Binary Value.

Double-click the new value, name it Scanmode Map and, in Windows 7 or Vista enter the value data: 0000 0000 0000 0000 0200 0000 0000 3A00 0000 0000 - that's 17 zeros, 2, 10 zeros, 3A, and another 10 zeros!

In Windows XP you'll need to enter: 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0008 0200 0000 2A00 3A00 0010 0000 0000.

Restart your computer and your Caps Lock key will no longer work. To turn it back on again just delete the Registry value you created.
