Interviewer: Who, in your opinion, is the most talented footballer you´ve ever worked with?
Interesting titbit from Tim Cahill's recent interview,He was asked who is the best player he has ever played with...
Tim: Ross Barkley at Everton is a special talent. He has been unlucky this season with his injury but he is an immense player with a great attitude to football. He is so mature for his age and I think he is going to be a massive asset to Everton and [the city] Liverpool in years to come. I have been lucky enough to have played with some great players in my career but I do not think I have ever seen a talent like Ross.

So basically he's naming a 17 year old kid, with no first team experience, as the best player he's ever worked with, beating the likes of Kewell, Rooney, etc. Quite surprising really. 147

Im still up watching our friendly we are 2-0 up at half time, Anichebe & Bilyaletdinov but all the talk is about young Ross Barkley who looks a class act. He scored 31 goals from midfield for Everton when he was only 14 and scored 2 goals in the echo cup final at Analfield for his school Broadgreen and was handed the man of the match award by the fat Spanish waiter who likened him to Steven GBH Gerrard! I mentioned him on the old forum about a year ago but he broke his leg playing for England,

The Tottenham v EVERTON game due to be played on Saturday 13th August 2011 has been postponed due to the riots in London.

No date has been set for the game to take place.

Totenham Hotspur issued this statement.

"Following ongoing discussions with the necessary authorities regarding this weekend's Premier League home match against Everton, it has now been confirmed that this fixture will be postponed due to safety concerns relating to infrastructure of the High Road and access to the stadium caused by last Saturday's riots.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused to supporters due to matters outside of the control of the Club. We shall update fans on when this fixture will be rearranged in due course."

Where do i start... Moyes keeps shoehorning people in to accomodate a few of his favourites, Heitinga can't play centre mid,Rodwell is not a right winger, Neville should be retired??? We go a goal behind and he takes our only striker off and goes 4-6-0 ... against a team that shipped 4 goals at home last week. And if Arsenal want to give us some money for Jags we should snap their hands off. We are clueless when we go a goal behind and its not helped when Arteta comes on and takes over the free kick duties. Saha and Fellaini should have started and play 4-4-2... Afraid it same old same old...Thank God for young Ross Barkley,he was a class above them all today!!!!!

Everton To Announce Major New Investment

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm114/COLNILSATIS/cms826071.jpg

Theatre Impresario Bill Kenwright is preparing to hand Everton manager David Moyes the keys to a transfer war chest as he looks to conclude a deal that will secure major new investment for the Goodison Park Club.
It has been revealed that Kenwright held talks with major UK Banks over the weekend and has secured a package that will see money become available from September 1st.
The deal will be the first of its kind in the Premier League and will see Kenwright signing up for The Natwest Student Saver Account which offers £100 of free cash immediately and an overdraft facility of up to £3000 over the next three years.
Speaking yesterday the 66 year old said that he had enrolled on a part time plumbing course in order to secure the funds but that it was a small price to pay in order to secure the future of the club.
“Our financial problems have been well documented but this isn’t just about money, under the terms of the deal we will receive a free national rail card and access to student discounts across the country.”
“I’ve already spent half of the windfall on a Pulp Fiction poster and a months supply of alcohol but there will be funds left over for team strengthening” said the Everton Chairman.
“I’ve not spoken to David Moyes yet but I’m sure he has targets in mind, we have spoken about the possibility of loaning Craig Bellamy from Manchester City for 37 seconds but negotiations are at a very early stage.”
With just over a week left until the end of the transfer window Everton fans will be hoping that funds are invested wisely.:(:(:(

Im very happy with the 3 points today but the performance was woeful and reminded me of the dark days of Walter Smiths reign,we virtually played a 4-6-0 formation and were ultra negative from the off. Not of of our 4 leading goalscorers from last season started the game today. Negativity usually gets you nothing,we were very lucky today!!! Please stop playing Heitinga in midfield and stop bringing 11 men back to defend corners/free kicks etc!!! Sometimes Moyes is his own worst enemy and his team selection and formations are baffling!!!

The Blues were far better today and should have won that game, the Ref had a shocker and refused us 2 blatant penalties, All in all it gives us hope for the season ahead. Special mention to Seamus Coleman on his first game back after injury i thought he had a great game.

:twak: WTF..... the transfer window only shut 3 weeks ago now the scaremongers are already at it for this coming January ...

Andre Villas-Boas's bid to inject some fresh young talent into his Chelsea squad is set to lead him to bid a whopping £20 million for Everton starlet Ross Barkley in January....

That is, of course, if you believe the Daily Mirror which links the Blues with the 17-year-old midfielder who only made his Premier League debut on the opening day of this season.

However, his outstanding early performances have already seen him being talked about as the next English superstar and Chelsea could be the first big club to show their hand. ..:twak:

If you set up your team and tactics with the ideas of the team you are playing are better than you and you will try and just sneak a point, then obviously it will filter down to the players. How are the players supposed to believe that they can win when the manager doesn't? I'm convinced that the players could've had a go yesterday but were stifled by lack of options going forward, due to the negative tactics. If you really believe in your team and tell them you are better than these, again it will filter through.

My some sort of moral to this story is, never let another team think they are better than you and more importantly don't believe it or you start already beaten.

I love Moyes but its pissing me off now that he is taking for granted that teams are better than us, (just because they are expensive) instead of giving it a go.

i just don,t get why when we have recognised strikers on the bench and don,t start with one of them...for christs sake at least have a go from the off..if it don,t work then maybe change it... never been a fan of Steve Round...who/and what has he ever done ....
confidence in beating your oppo...breeds more confidence..we have had the better of... (4 seasons.)? against City,in fact i,d say our best away performance last year was against them..
so i,m in agreement with most of what you say AL ...

Good luck today from the bloke

Well im gonna keep this short,The Referee spoiled what could have been a good game, The whole of the media were shocked by his crazy decision to send young Rodwell off,Souness said "it wasn't even a foul" ...Lee Dixon said "Please tell me its April fools day" the only thing they missed is how long are the powers that be gonna put up with these CHEATS that border on Corruption to appease the SKY media darlings!!! Also Suarez didn't help by jumping 3 foot in the air whelping like a baby!!! He so fits the Liverpool way!!! Oh and Dalglish said "He didn't see it!!! Footballs finished, people are in denial ...Corruption & Money have ruined the game i once loved!

My only crumb of comfort from today are that the RS are light years behind a few other Prem teams despite spunking 150 million on the likes of Downing Adam Carroll etc.

Everyone says how careful and analytical he is and that he prepares/researches down to the minutest detail. If that's the case how on earth has he not noticed the toxic recipe that's in front of him.

Whoever scouted Billy and Heitinga needs f@cking off big time, what an earth do either of them add, seriously?

Heitinga was an ABSOLUTE joke in Spain, no ifs or buts. Atletico fans hated him, he's on over £60k per week and is not as good as Yobo - Fact.

Don't even start me on Billy, the slowest winger imaginable, but hang on he's not a winger at all.
What was he signed for?

For all those who hammer Kenwright and I'm not a big BK lover, Moyes reputation would be in serious question were it not for us being such a state.

The Biggest point of all though Mr Moyes is up front, what on earth were you doing?

Last season we struggled all season to score, until he briefly started to play Saha and Beckford. If you have no option to buy, would it have not been handy to keep hold of one of your forwards considering how bloody weak we are in that area?

We play 451 resolutely and without change, yet we are not scoring or creating enough and conceding every match a pretty toxic recipe that David.

Moyes has reduced an already limited attack to absolutely nothing, because he thought yet again he could get away with Cahill and Saha getting about ten a season, well that doesn't look a good bet at the moment.

We have better players, yet we are playing as negatively as any Walter Smith side. Honestly if Moyes were to leave tomorrow I couldn't give a toss. He's done a largely brilliant job but he's made an absolute mess of his team options.

He needs to be aware that Everton is as high as he will ever go and get on with sorting it, the only way is down for him as well.

Selling Yakubu for buttons was another mistake by Moyes,He is far too negative and his stubborness to continue playing a clearly ineffective Cahill is grating on the fans. More and more on the WSAG Forum are fed up of him and his tactics ,not one shot on target today and a midfield who don't offer much help. Its time for change methinks and take Steve Round and Chris Woods with ya!!!

although I agree with those that say he's got a thankless task with the lack of money, that team that he put out today are better than stoke in pretty much every department. he has a squad full of internationals, but they aren't performing.

thats the fault of the players and the manager, not the lack of money.

today I didn't think the team worked hard enough. Those big grocks they've got are **** on the ball. We should have hunted them in packs when they had it back there, forcing them into mistakes, chasing them down, winning the ball back high up the pitch. We never seem to have a plan B.

That substitution was bizarre, I would rather get beat 3-0 and have a go,Saha was awful again today and i think Moyes constantly moaning about funds is not helping things and also his loyalty to certain players is bewildering. We need to shake things up and change a few things starting with 2 up front and stop all the negativity that is running through the club.

3-5-2

Back three of Heitinga, Jagielka and Distin.
Baines and Coleman wing-backs
Felaini and Rodwell in the middle with Barkley or Drenthe in a free role behind Saha and Vellios.

Cahill coming off the bench when needed to play behind the two forwards.

Surely we could get a shot on goal with that? Worth a try at least.

I have seen this lad a couple of times this season and he is a good player...But I don't think he is premier league standard to be honest.
Maybe if Everton buy him they could loan him out to somebody in the Championship or League 1 and maybe he could progress into a player who could handle that league...but at the minute I don't think he is ready.
Being a wonderkid in the IFA league he certainly is but that is another thing entirely as most English non league teams would beat the Champions of the IFA league blindfolded.
I wish the young lad every success though.

Against United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool.

Played 47
Won 0
Drew 16
Lost 31

I reckon I've been to about 40 of them. I'm not sure who's the bigger gob****e.

I also went to Wembley and the fans were superb but the main topic of conversation was Moyes cautious tactics and the overall display against one of the worst Liverpool sides i have ever seen, they are 36 points behind Man Utd and have just lost lately to Wigan and QPR!

In other news!!!

Clive Thomas dies and ascends to the Pearly Gates where a venerable looking ancient with a long white beard is standing behind a lectern on which rests a large book.
"Name, please?" asks the ancient.
"Clive Thomas."
"What was your profession on Earth?"
"Ritired, but I was a top class football referee back in the 1970's. FA Cup Finals, European games, World Cup matches, the lot."
"I see. And did you lead a good life, Clive?"
"Oh yes, sir. I lived as I refereed, by the book."
"And do you have any confessions you wish to amke before I decide on your fate?"
Clive thinks for a moment.
"No." he says, with a slightly uncertain air, which the other picks up on.
"Are you sure?" the bearded one asks, in that tone which shows he knows there is something.
"Well," Clive shrugs after a minute or two, "back in 1977, in an FA Cup Semi-Final between Everton and Liverpool, I denied Everton's Bryan Hamilton a perfectly good goal that would have won them the game."
"Why didn't you allow the goal?" Whitebeard wants to know.
"Dunno, see." Clive garbles, "First of all I thought it was handball and then I changed my mind and said it was offside, like. I suppose that I wanted a replay so as I could referee that one too and get more money. Plus I was scared of Tommy Smith and terry McDermott and I couldn't take Emlyn Hughes screeching in my ears. So I bottled it, like."
"Mmmm" says Whitebeard. "Disgraceful behaviour! No entry into Heaven for you - downstairs for all eternity with Graham Poll and Mark Clattenburg!"
"No!" begs Clive, face ashen and tears rolling down his face. "Please! I beg you to reconsider, it was only Everton and who really gives a stuff about them?"
"Begone!" orders the robed one angrily. "Roast in Hell, wretch!"
"Please!" screams Clive, "Please, don't send me to Hell please, St Peter!"
"Oh," chuckles the bearded one, "I'm not St Peter, it's his night off."
"W-w-who are y-y-you th-then?" sniffles Clive.
"Me?" replies the other with a grin, "I'm St Domingo!"

I still hate him with a passion to this day!

Decent game at Fir Park yesterday with about 1000 Everton fans there. First 10 minutes I didn't think Motherwell were actually going to get a kick at the ball however they got into it and had a good few chances to win although both teams did. Great to see Faddy back in a Well top and he got a great reception from both sets of fans.

All in all a decent day out for a friendly. Roll on Champions League!!! :-)

The ref was also poor and didn't help with some strange decisions!

I agree, he has great potential.
He is about 19 and Moyes is a clever manager, loaning him to a Championship side to gain experience.
I also think Sterling and Wisdom at Liverpool have great potential.

Watched him at Anfield in the schools cup final for Broadgreen versus unbeaten All Saints from Kirkby,he tore them apart and scored 2 screamers! Rafa Benitez handed out the trophies and said " Barklay is the best kid he had seen for years!

The Best Shirt in The World

I bought this cracker the other day with some vouchers I got after I retuned the Bill Shankly Jacket – Net spend £0, stitch that Hicks. I’m keeping this one though, this shirt is the final piece of the jigsaw for my wardrobe, I’ll never walk alone with this on. The material itself is the best in the world, the makers are obviously the most knowledgeable tailors in the world as the attention to detail is world class. It’s the little things that make this shirt so special, 6 buttons on the front – 6x3=18, 18+1 = 19, 19 Times. (Wow, how did they get that in?). Also the two sleeves, and the collar; sleeves have two sides so 2x2 = 4 (the sleeves)+ (the collar) 1 = 5, madness, 5 European cups. It’s only Liverpool Football club who could have done this.

Hellie from liverpool

is this reversible? if not why not?

What a fabulous idea if you could turn it inside out and the stadium would be full. The kop in full flow, cheering on another home draw.

Everton launched their 'Turn the City Blue' Christmas Campaign by lighting up the Roman Catholic Cathedral last night.

Everton's festive plan is to turn more of the city blue over Crimbo.

The campaign began in earnest when the Cathedral was bathed in blue light, featuring a huge projection of the curly-haired Screech. The message said, 'From everyone at Everton Football Club - Merry Christmas 2012' it looked great. Everton expressed their thanks to Canon O'Brien.

Every day from now until Sunday, December 23, the club will turn key city buildings blue and fans will be able to see clues about which ones on Everton's website.

Well played Everton.

A second Liverpool landmark got the #bluecrimbo treatment on Thursday evening as we stepped up our quest to turn the city Blue.

This time it was the cark park of the Liverpool Echo Arena which received a special Everton makeover as we continued to count down the 12 Days Of Blue Christmas.

In the build up, we teased fans with the clue below giving you some idea where our #bluecrimbo team would be.

"A location, location currently, currently providing, providing a hearty, hearty welcome, welcome to a visitor, visitor from Ireland, Ireland."

Hundreds of you worked it out and supporters have been uploading their pictures to Facebook and Twitter since the lights were switched on at around 6.30pm.

Every day between now and Sunday 23 December, we will be adding a new building to a hitlist which now includes the Arena and the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral.

The Blue makeovers will mostly take place between the hours of 4-8pm - although not in every case - and clues will be posted each day on evertonfc.com, Twitter and Facebook.

It's all part of our wider campaign to turn our virtual map of the city entirely Blue.

Each day, we're giving away great prizes - all you need to do is something to help us succeed in our Christmas challenge. Find out more here.

One way to win is to take a photo of whichever building we target on the third day of Blue Christmas - Friday.

We've got one in mind, so here's the clue:

"The Mount of St James, but this is no horse. Completed in 1978 – it is the country’s biggest of its kind."

So get spreading the word and follow the clues for your chance to win a raft of prizes from match tickets and signed merchandise to computer games and DVDS.

If you're using Twitter, don't forget to use #bluecrimbo. Find us on Twitter here or join our Facebook fan page here.

Everton made it through to the Fourth Round of The FA Cup in comfortable fashion following an emphatic 5-1 victory at League Two side Cheltenham.

David Moyes' side earned a tie against Sunderland or Bolton after Nikica Jelavic, Leighton Baines, Leon Osman, Seamus Coleman and Marouane Fellaini all found the net at Whaddon Road.

Listening to a Dutch journalist on Sky and he reckons Everton have pulled of a coup getting this lad Fer.
One of the hottest properties in Holland according to him and people were expecting him to sign for one of the top Champions League teams
A shrewd bit of business by Mr Moyes it seems.

Transfer news: Leroy Fer looking forward to testing himself at Everton

Leroy Fer is delighted to have secured a move from Twente to Everton and is looking forward to testing himself in England.

The Toffees announced on Monday that they have reached an agreement for the Holland international.

It is believed that David Moyes' side will part with around £8.6million for the 23-year-old's services.

Fer admits a high-profile switch to the Premier League has arrived earlier than he expected, but he claims to be ready to embrace the challenge.

He told RTV Rijnmond: "It's a very nice step to move to the Premier League. For me, my qualities can be fully expressed there.

"Everton have always been a good club to join. It's nice that they have come in for me. It is earlier than I expected, but I am definitely happy to join them.

"I have only played for one-and-a-half years at Twente so the fact that Everton have come in for me so quickly shows the confidence they have in me. That feels good."

On his decision to leave a side challenging for the Eredivisie title, Fer added: "Everton always play for European places. It is a step which can aid my development."

Looks a good signing this lad, happy days COYB!

Latest from BBC website:

TRANSFER LATEST
Everton tell Sky Sports that their deal to sign Leroy Fer from FC Twente is off after problems with the midfielder's medical.

"We were very excited at the prospect of Leroy coming to Goodison but unfortunately the transfer did not go smoothly there were some issues," said chief executive Robert Elstone.

"I think our fans will understand that we had to put the club and the club's finances first. There are other options for us and we will work hard on them. It will not be for want of trying."

BBC Sport's chief football writer Phil McNulty reports: "Everton's £8.6m move to sign FC Twente's Leroy Fer has collapsed after a medical revealed a problem with his knee. The Merseyside club wanted to restructure the deal based on appearances or clauses - but discussions between the two clubs aimed at finding a resolution broke down on Wednesday afternoon. Everton had given FC Twente a deadline of Wednesday evening to agree to the new deal but the Dutch club insisted on keeping to the original agreement.
