SUNDAY 13TH MAY - Kick Off 5pm

CD Tenerife vs RSD Alcalá.

The last game of the season, Tenerife have now qualified for the play-offs but need to win against Alcalá to gaurantee the all important 2nd place in the league. Alcalá themselves need to win to avoid relegation.

We are currently level with 3rd placed CD Lugo on points and equal on the head to head rule. But we have scored two more goals than them.

Our coach will leave earlier than usual at 2pm (for a 5pm kick off) so that we can watch the final day of the Premier in Santa Cruz (which kicks off at 3pm).

It really will be a fantastic occasion this Sunday in Santa Cruz. The Frente continue their 25th anniversary celebrations with an enormous TIFO (display). It is very secretive what the exact display is but all I can say is that it is not to be missed. Cameras are a must.

Also, the memory of ex-blanquiazul legend Rommel Fernandez will be remembered with a new initiative this Sunday against RSD Alcala. Fans will hold a minutes applause on the 9th minute (his old shirt number) as well as displaying a floral tribute behind the goal.

COACH NOW SOLD OUT

Lots going on tomorrow. OasisFM will be broadcasting the match live from 4.45pm. On pitch interviews will take place in English with Pablo Sicilia and reserve goalie Razak.

There will be a minutes silence in memory of a young footballer (age 15) that died playing football this week. Another heart attack on the pitch, tragic & shocking. As a footnote the new CD Tenerife manager Quique Medina travelled down to the south of the Island to pay his respects at the wake for the lad the very next day.

On the coach we will be voting for our "Armada Sur Player of the Year".

If anyone is going to the match tomorrow but also wants to see the final day of the Premiership(k.o.3pm), there is a bar just down from the stadium (first road below the underground car park). We hope to be in there by 3.30pm or so.

1-1 at half time. Aridane headed home from a free kick early in the first half, but Alcala equalized after they cut us open in the middle.

Of our rivals for second place CD Lugo are losing 2-0 away to CD Toledo & Albacete are drawing away to Coruxo. So as things stand at the moment we are still second, but the second half to play for.

1-2 to the visitors Alcala Final Score.

Didn't matter in the end as all our rivals for second spot lost as well. So we finish the regular season in second place after all.

A bit worrying to me that 4 of our regulars were missing, both full backs LLorente & Cristobal + important midfielders Kitoko & Chechu. Hopefully nothing serious with any of them (could have been suspensions as well, not sure) as we need all of them for the playoffs.

Btw, shame to see our neighbours UD Vecindario relegated as this was more a friendly rivalry & they seem like a nice club allround. But hopefully, come next season, we will once again get to contest that somewhat less friendly rivalry!

Final score 1-2, but it wasn't an important game. We're still in the playoffs.

Yes, FinnKris those players were suspended just for today´s game (they forced a yellow card last week so they would be clean for play-offs). Chechu was not 100% so no point in risking him.

It was a strange game. Alcala needed to win to stay up. Our league rivals UD Lugo were 2-0 down early on so whatever happened we would have finished 2nd or 3rd. Albacete conceeded late on so we were gauranteed second place.

It did not matter to us really and Alcala were playing for their lives and it showed.

Onto the play-Offs! We will play either Real Jaen(near Granada) or Badalona (Barcelona) or Amorebieta (Bilbao).
