Piratebay has a useful comments section so you can see peoples opinion about the quality etc before downloading. They also have trusted uploaders. I think its a good idea to wait for a DVD release as well as many new releases are really poor quality. Use Rotten Tomatoes to find out latest DVD releases then look them up on PirateBay.
For TV I use eztv.it - has them all listed in release date order - log in every morning and grab all the latest TV show episodes.

Many, many thanks to you all. I,d been under the impression that Piratebay was "out of bounds" due to politicians and after trying and failing to get into the site I realised that it might be due to me constantly using the VPn and of course when I came out of that and back into a Spanish server I have now been able to get the site to open.
Thanks be to you lot! ps.out of the woodwork cometh welcome friends!

Isohunt.com...for quality "jaybob" does only dvd rips from Canada I think.

Look up on IMDB first as they post a lot of "straight-to-DVD" titles....
