Sounds like a wierd question, I know, but nontheless, I popped in to the florest in Las Galletas the other day and asked them if, apart from the purple and lilac dry babybreath type flowers, what other purple/violet flowers are available at this time of year..... he answered none!.... I said, what about in May, and he said "too late for May, May has been and gone", and I said (wanted to say "yeah DOHHH!, but I refrained) "for next May".... LOL

Anyways, apparently there are no "violeta o purpura" flowers in May and June in Tenerife..... methinks i'll have to try another florest....

but in the meantime, anyone any idea if there are purple/violet flowers in May and June..... short of keeping my fingers crossed that my purple bouganvilla is nice and bushy next May LOL ..... I want the flowers for a bouquet when me and OH tie the knot....

What about Purple Orchids, they seem to have them most of the year.

i'll have a look too, just googled to see the different shades, there are some really dark purple ones, as opposed to lilac, that look geourgous, thanks :) ... I want to get a practice bouquet made up NOW, as i'm a typical Aries hehehe, got to have everything decided beforehand, well in advance :)

I've already got two pairs of shoes on order.... one pair is winging it's way to me as I type, thanks to my friend and her ebay account (she made me put the bid in as she was at work, never want to do that again, nearly had heart failure, but I got the shoes, just hope they fit).... so i'll need flowers to match the shoes.... guess what colour? LOL

But you probably won't find them in a florist. More likely in private gardens. Although you may still find some purple iris in flower shops.
Then there's dark mauve wisteria (glicina) (http://flickrhivemind.net/Tags/glicina/Recent) which would be beautiful in a bouquet if you can find it.
I know it does grow here in Tenerife.

Wonderful Canarybird, once again my jealousy of your garden is rearing its ugly head (thoughts of jumping over your garden wall a couple of days before my wedding have just popped into my head :hello::devil2::whistle::jump2::run::bounce::super star:)

You mentioning wisteria, I have a stencil that i've painted round the top of my bathroom wall is wisteria (also on my balcony wall, which I painted yonks ago when my morning glory didn't flower quick enough, so I cheated hahaha..... i've now got a georgous purple bouganvillea in it's place)

Went to another flower shop today, she suggested Lisianthus, fresias, also thinking about orchids, like Primrose suggested, so it's looking more promising now ... the lady in the flower shop was at least more helpfull, even gave me a book to look through, OMG some of the bouquets were horrendous, even she thought so (I have a feeling the book was from the 80's BWAHAHAHA) ...... i've looked at some orchid bouquets online, they look lovely, and although i'm not sure whether to have a posy or a long bouquet, I want it fairly simple at the end of the day :) ......my mum is painting a flower design for the wedding invites, and although not finished, it looks lovely...
