EXCLUSIVE: Sky won't fall: TV giants insist SPL deal is on - even without Rangers

Sky has rubbished claims it is set to pull the plug on Scottish football if Rangers are not playing in the top flight next season.
The satellite broadcaster which, together with ESPN, is three years into a £65million five-year deal, has so far kept its own counsel on the crisis that has engulfed Scottish football since the Ibrox club lurched into administration, before being liquidated last week.
With Charles Green’s Sevco consortium attempting to smooth a passage back into the top flight for the newco Rangers, there is no guarantee the four Old Firm games that are central to the existing deal will take place next season.

An improved £80m five-year deal, to supercede the existing agreement, remains unsigned and, barring a remarkable turn of events, looks likely to remain so.
The prospect of the existing agreement being shredded as a result of the ongoing saga looks nil, however. Reports last week claimed Sky were ready to rip up the existing deal if its terms were breached. But a senior London source told Sportsmail that, although a degree of renegotiation might be required in that eventuality, there is no question of the broadcaster walking away.
Sky has never, ever discussed pulling out of covering Scottish football,’ he said.
'We have not discussed that possibility, either with the SPL or any other footballing authority. Nor has that been on the agenda for consideration within Sky, despite all the problems and difficulties being faced by Scottish football at present.
'If Rangers are not in the SPL, that would change things for us, naturally. It would leave a quality hole in Scotland’s top division. Competition would deteriorate and, in that event, we would have to renegotiate.
‘But let us be very clear — we have always tried to be supportive of Scottish football and have never made any negative noises or sent any negative messages.
‘Scottish football is still very much in our plans for the future. Walking away has never been on our agenda.’

Sportsmail’s source also stressed that Sky would not try to influence the outcome of the current crisis.
‘We have, in the past, been asked for our opinions, but we believe that football should be run by the football authorities. We are a TV company,’ he said.
The ongoing crisis in the Scottish game will be illustrated on Monday when the SPL releases its fixtures for season 2012-13 with ‘Club 12’ taking the place of Rangers. The club representatives attending the SPL’s monthly meeting will also be given an update on the investigation into alleged double contracts, following Sportsmail’s revelations that off-shore payments were excluded from players’ contracts over a decade.
However, the new incarnation of the Ibrox club could yet be playing in the top flight, if Green gets the seven additional votes he requires from the SPL in two weeks’ time.
Such a scenario is being bluntly opposed by the majority of fans throughout Scotland, who believe sporting integrity should override any commercial interests.
Weekend reports suggested a compromise might come in the shape of a radical revamp of the Scottish game, which would see the SPL and SFL merge into one body in time for the new season.
It has been suggested the newco Rangers would begin life in the second tier — SPL2 — with Dundee promoted to the top division.

The fudge would be designed to punish the new Rangers by ensuring they do not re-enter at the highest level — while keeping sponsors and TV companies onside through the expansion of the SPL to two divisions.
Promotion and relegation play-offs for all divisions, a pyramid system for league entry and a rethink on TV revenue distribution would be the other facets of the plan being hatched within the SFA.
However, David Longmuir, chief executive of the Scottish Football League, said he was against any such plan.
‘It would be a newco scenario and the only way we could accommodate any new application would be to create a gap in the Third Division through the play-offs with teams shuffling up,’ he said. ‘We would then judge every case on its own merits.
‘There would be no provision for any newco Rangers to go into the First Division rather than the Third.
‘The decisions that have to be made by the SPL and SFA in the coming weeks are far more crucial than the knock-on effects that come to the SFL.
‘There are no winners in this situation. The good of the game is balancing sporting integrity with the finances available and to be realistic about the future.’

More news by the hour, and all incredible. As JJ once "the gift that keeps on giving";

So, Rangers, not yet liquidated, as we all knew, canae be called "the Rangers FC" on liquidation as its too similar, and the liquidation process could take yonks anyway; so would they play for a year as Rangers (IA)? Doubt it, Whyte still owns them. Or another name thats not "too like Rangers" under Green? Glasgow's Green sounds nowt like Rangers, canae see it but. Green's Blues? (aye he will be singing the blues alright). Govan Ghosts? Club Orange 12 as JJ illustrated, takes the biscuit, pun intended. I really canae stop laughing at this total farce, and there's mair to come?

Davie Thistle

It is becoming more apparent as days go by that the club previously knowing as Rangers and their sympathizers and apologists are in complete disarray.

The Scottish footballing authorities are in a state of near blind panic at the evidence so far made public of wrongdoing by the team from Govan on an almost industrial scale

What the vast majority of non-Rangers fans wish to see is quite simply the matter treated in a non-partisan way,
without fear or favour.

However, what we are treated to is an almost daily catalogue of obfuscation and disinformation of a Kafkaesque variety.
Well, I hope I'm speaking for many when I say that I'm sick to fed up with all the Hungeddon stories,
which imply the Earth will stop revolving if Rangers are treated in the manner their behavior deserves.
Added to my feeling of anger is the lack of acknowledgement of wrong doing or even hint of an apology or any act of contrition.
Indeed, we are basically told that its our fault for punishing the Ibrox club!

Well, a word or two in the shelllike of the powers that be in Scottish football and indeed the custodians of my own football club: Partick Thistle,
do they think we are mugs?

I know I have spent thirty odd years supporting a "wee" team that is highly unlikely ever to win the Champions League,
yet I trust that given the right luck and circumstances that my team will have at least a sporting chance in any competition it enters.

This is why so many non-Rangers fans are angry,
what we are being told is effectively that no matter what there is one team that will never be subject to the same discipline as anyone else.
That's just plain wrong and if some contrived resolution is arrived at to allow Rangers a feather bedded punishment,
I'm finished with Scottish football. After all what would be the point?

22-06-2012, 00:53
A very clear and concise view of the situation down Ibrokes Way, Dave. By now it does seem to me, rather surprisingly, that at least 70% and maybe more, of regular attending football supporters of all the clubs in Scotland are of a similar opinion, insofar as to the Actings not only of Rangers but the so called Administrators of the game in Scotland. How they can sit there (with a President who was effectively a major part of the whole skulduggery going on there and not only that but a recipient of a NON_REFUNDABLE LOAN to the detriment of all tax payers in the UK) and in the full face of all like minded supporters basically tell them to shut up and**** off 'cause they are going to get this sorted in what, 8 weeks, before the start of a new season. What is particularly galling is that one of them is English and had never ever had any involvement in business in Scotland so he should have been as white as the proverbial Angel.

Thought I might interject and add a little bit of information to your informative thread.
So far, I have spoken to around 40 people who were season ticket holders at Ibrox last season.
2 have sent their renewals back (mental IMHO), 27 are not renewing and the rest are undecided.
The majority are extremely dubious about following Charlie Chuckles' Green & Whyte Army!
And most would want a New Rangers to start off in SFL3 if the league allow entry. (Don't they need 3 years audited accounts?)
A few want Ibrox padlocked up and turned into a museum....(they've had enough)
My guess....... New Rangers Spirit of Govan will not play in any league and Servwhatever shall be liquidated by July 12th.
If I had a contract with RFC.....I'd be on the first bus out of Govan too !
Have to laugh right enough....some supporters of Celtic FC I work with screaming about cheating the hard working British tax payer !
I'm not sure if these people know what integrity means.....:spin:

Rangers poll

Friday, 29 June 2012
What league should a newly-formed Rangers be allowed to play in next season?

SPL
50 (0%)

Division One
45 (0%)

Division Two
7 (0%)

Division Three
18434 (99%)

But hey! We they know better for the good of the game in Scotland, no matter if we have to change all the leagues, all the fixtures we will get the huns into where we want! Sickens the life out of me tbh.

Maximum respect to Clyde F.C.!
written statement to SFL ¬

The Club has received a set of papers in advance of the SFL meeting on Tuesday. The essential intent behind those papers is to induce the SFL clubs to agree a proposal to allow a Newco to enter the SFL in the 1st Division in exchange for a range of structural changes to the current set up and some small financial inducements. Some of the proposed changes have merit in principle.

The Board believe that any proposals for change should not be rushed, as these have been. They also have to be done by consensus and not through threat or inducement, again, as these have been.

The papers include a proposal to allow a Newco to enter the 1st Division. This is contrary to the rules of the SFL and nothing within the papers justifies this proposal.

As a club owned by its supporters and recovering from having been on the brink of extinction, the Board of Clyde Football Club recognise the damage done to the credibility of Rangers Football Club by its successive owners, and the subsequent impact on staff and supporters. These proposals do nothing to restore that credibility.

It is not for us to become involved in punishment, that is a matter for the SPL and SFA. The SFL clubs are being asked to change their rules so that the SPL and SFA can apply sanctions that fit short term financial interests.

It is not for us to tell any club what they should want for themselves, but to enter anywhere other than the 3rd Division risks Rangers Football Club being burdened with the legacy of commencing its rebuilding in a manner that they later look back on with regret. Rangers Football Club does not need to be handed a competitive advantage, they are more than capable of returning to the SPL via the 3rd Division on their own merit. Rebuilding from the bottom can restore the dignity stripped from the club by its former owners.

The papers use emotive language to threaten a future of financial meltdown and they carry the implication of the destruction of the game should a Newco not be entered in the 1st Division. If things are as bad as indicated then Scottish Football is in a far worse state than is being acknowledged. In which case it is time to accept the bankrupt model needs fixed and not supported and perpetuated on the back of this proposal. The fact that other clubs might face similar financial distress because Rangers Football Club enter the 3rd Division is hardly a reason to compromise the integrity of the SFL and further compromise Rangers Football Club.

Rather than attempting to prepare a soft landing before delivering sanctions, it would be better to contemplate more radical change that might actually underpin financial stability in the long term for clubs that balance their books. Perhaps an amnesty from sanctions for clubs that are forced to face insolvency procedures in the next 2 years as a result of the current turmoil, and an automatic entry to the 3rd Division for any club liquidated and reformed in similar circumstances. This would allow 2 years to properly restructure the Scottish Game for the benefit of all and undo the damage that has been created by the current structure which encourages club directors to trade integrity for cash, and then spend beyond their means, willingly risking the very existence of football clubs. If we could believe that the game could be less self interested long enough to resolve this, then this, and other far better ideas, might be worth contemplating.

SPL clubs that have openly stated their opposition to a Newco being given immediate access to the SPL have taken the position based on their, and at times, their supporters' view of what is the right thing to do, however, the vote has still to be taken and proposals such as these are premature. If the SPL clubs vote as indicated on the basis of the increasingly discredited notion of sporting integrity, it would be questionable if the SFL clubs did otherwise.

The reality is that we are faced with unique circumstances and it would be foolish to pretend otherwise, that probably means that compromise for some is inevitable, and perhaps even worthwhile for everyone in the long term. The solution however is not this hastily cobbled together proposal.

The Board of this club sees no merit whatsoever in adopting this proposal.

I hope the rest of the first division chairmen ESPECIALLY OURS! - Hang their heads in shame!

Much to the amazement of the SFA,SPL and SFL at least six chairmen or a designated spokespersons seem to be on board with Clude FC in being prepared to vote against the huns getting admitted to the second tier of Scottish football for next season. I have to confess that I am similarly surprised. btw. What number of clubs associated need to succeed on a no vote. It certainly would not have happened 10 years ago.

The "rules" say Trigger's Broom needs 23 votes out of 30 to succeed , but there is now propaganda out "suggesting" it is only 16 !
The attempt at a fudge in SFL has now begun but ,a number of SFL clubs have started to come out in strong opposition , especially in light of threats issued in Donkeyasster's recent letter to all clubs this week !

So why all of a sudden interest from Celtic fans about the future of Scottish football does not seem that long ago that ALONG with Rangers they were dictating terms to the rest of Scottish football with threats about TV money etc and then their joint failed bids to get out of Scottish football to play inEngland did they give Scottish football a second thought back then the answer is NO. So gies a break the people who watch the provincial clubs are the people who care about Scottish football Rangers & Celtic have only ever cared about their clubs.

Don't disagree with you there AJ ! Because of both their business interests , they see a need for a bigger pond and when that was being looked at the Media didn't put out the arguments they are pushing now .
However , as it wasn't going to happen 1 of the clubs chose a particular route which has led to their demise , the other has cut it's cloth accordingly .
The opportunity is there for SFL/SPL clubs to reorganise and perhaps improve all of the set up but what is being proposed is Gerrymandering and bullying to suit 1 particular "Institution"- it will not succeed if the momentum from smaller clubs is kept up.
The executives of the SFA/SFL/SPL have been shown to be not fit for purpose - time for a real root and branch reorganisation!

Whittaker has signed for Norwich and Kyle Lafferty has signed for Swiss club Sion. Where does that leave Charles Green's claim that they are not "free agents"? More shennanigans to come, I reckon... BBC Sport (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18658196)

junglejim

Quote from BBC
BBC Scotland understands the Scottish Football Association could reject an application for international clearance from their English and Swiss counterparts on behalf of he and Whittaker's new clubs.

Scotland's national body claims it would require both the "old" Rangers, which will soon be put into liquidation, and the newco Rangers to give their permission for such clearance to be given.

The players, on advice from their union, PFA Scotland, rejected the opportunity to have their contracts transferred to the "newco" Rangers being created by the consortium led by Charles Green that has bought the Glasgow club's assets.

World governing body Fifa is likely to step into the dispute and grant international clearance for the pair.

However, Green's Sevco consortium rejects the claims of Lafferty, Whittaker and seven other players that they are now free agents.

Green has threatened legal action against any player who signs for another club - and will seek compensation from any club trying to employ them.

His consortium claims that Rangers players agreed to remain at Ibrox on reduced wages while the club were in administration in return for being sold at reduced prices should they go into liquidation.

So there could well be a lengthy dispute between the "newco" Rangers, Norwich, Sion, Lafferty and Whittaker.

Stoke City are in a similar position, although they have yet to formally announce that they have signed Rangers midfielder Jamie Ness.

At Sion, Lafferty will join up with another former Rangers player, Rino Gattuso, the 34-year-old midfielder having signed for the Swiss after exiting AC Milan.
SFA have abrogated their responsibility - they coudn't run a raffle !

Well done Caribe for posting the John Brown (you buy all the pies) speech. I hadn't seen that.....as I'd stopped following any developments

Got a spare 20 minutes this morning and thought I'd add a wee post.
Seems that this thread is all about a football club and it's demise, due to dodgy dealings, bad management and down right cheating.

Much has been made about the issue of "Sporting Integrity" and the fact that this club cheated the hard working British tax payer of much needed funds.

Suffice to say this is probably the appropriate thread to post about similar misdemeanors from clubs around the world.

I shall try to make my posts as factual as possible and try to resist the temptation to steal from some of the more biased websites that are inherently one sided.....and peddle nonsense in cyberspace

Since the majority of the posters on here seem to follow Celtic FC I shall start there

This account came from a former player at the club who made 127 appearances in the 1970's.

It was widely known to employees at the club that a certain director had his own "special turnstile" at Celtic Park where any monies that passed through this particular gate were undeclared and became this person's "pocket money"

If the money was undeclared that probably means for part of the 1970's Celtic FC cheated the hard working British tax payer out of much needed funds and gained an unfair advantage by submitting false accounts to the Tax authorities.
Given that the club won 7 League titles in that period I can only conclude "Sorting Integrity" and "Fair Play" were not upheld.:nono:

I don't disagree with the Turnstile Story- it was common for many clubs - I was 20 in 1970! I saw what was supposed attendances at a number of clubs and the myths about where the money was going.
When you listen to all the supporters clubs opinions , read the rules and precedents in SFA there's little doubt what the decision should be! But...
"Some of our fans are bitter and angry" because we know we have been cheated and lied to over many years.. the Flag, Farry & Cadete, Peat, Dougiegate,McCurry, Dallas, Ogilvie, Smudger,Donkeyasster,Daily Ranger.. how many more do you want?

I do not and never have believed anything that is written in the Scottish press regarding football.
And the eejits that peddle bile online are a disgrace.....but they come from every club in the land unfortunately.

Let's hope the SFL clubs show the same resolve as the SPL clubs and force the SFA to actually apply their own rules on this and ensure that they enter the league at the only point that is specified in the rules - SFL Div 3.

I note that Neil Doncaster is spouting all sorts of dark mutterings about how that will cripple the SFL clubs but I can't see what that actually has to do with him - he is only responsible for what happens in the SPL and following today's vote, Rangers fate has absolutely nothing to do with him or the SPL.

AJ. A very pertinent question I have to admit. I think that my usage of the word has become more extensive since the word has been freely banded about in the rags aka as the Scottish Daily Newspaper Football pages. In the light of the manner in which you have put the question really requires you to seek the views of my many, past, clients who would be better placed to deal with my integrity which also brings into play, honesty. This brings me back to a point I have failed to understand in this whole scenario, if Rangers had assets as have been reported of between 70 and a 100 million, why was the club sold for 5.5 million, I thought the duty of the administrators was to get the best deal for the creditors!
Oh, and I’m not a Celtic supporter, I’m a protestant* Hibs supporter, because I was born in Leith and they were the local team, my interest in keeping this thread going was probably 20% football interest and 80% the financial intrigue and conspiracy content.

The value of the "asset" has been frequently discussed - it's only real use is as a football club and as such only 1 team , Trigger's Broom , if it survives the next 2 weeks could really expect to play there - so a limited market.
Repairs and maintenance will be quite high so low price - the previous book values of£100m + were a scam to show accounts as "Not trading while Insolvent" according to quite a few experts ( Celtic park I think is overvalued too).
The area is not prime for redevelopment and is surrounded by a lot of wasteland .
The issue to come up is as "Bomber Brown " is demanding , who owns what and where is Speedy Craigy Bhoy in all this ?
OH dear! Next Friday the Thirteenth!- "Nightmare on Edminston Drive Part 111?" As the embers die on the many bonfires will the embers also die on Scotland's "Bonfires of the Vanities"?

Can I just add to JJ,s excellent opinion that included in the assets was Murray Park which apparently was shown as having a value of 20 milllion whereas in reality, since there is a covenant over it precluding the building of anything other than for sporting activities so its worth nothing, in real terms. It goes on and on and you also have to remember that everything was over-valued by DM to use the bank's funding to the maximum. That is why there has already been an admission, last week, by the SFA the the huns should not have had a licence to play football under their jurisdiction, last year, because of their precarious financial position. I think that taking everything into account and allowing for the falling value of their players then 15/20 million tops would have been their value at the end of last season. No more than that. Why then 5.5 or 8.5 or Bomber's bid of ?? (he cannot remember the amount cause he was poished as usual) because that,s all the market would stand.

Shug i hope you have realised over the months, hatred isnt my agenda/stance. I just found it hard to believe the assets were so worthless. But JJ and TimmyL have enlightened me there. The team may be "deid" but the "Rangers FC" spectre and its re- emergence , whatever guise it may take, and wherever it may play(initially), is still very much a live issue for me.
It must hurt beyond my comprehension, to be fan of what was Rangers, and you youself were quick to " walk away" wanting no part in the "Newco" , which by the way gained you respect here, but my, and (many others on this thread) 's interest is much more than just the liquidation (still to happen), issue, it is its FOOTBALLING implications. So, yes, we have an interest and it aint hatred Shug. This is an important phase for football in Scotland.

This is still the biggest story in sport at the minute and we are discussing it.
Where is the hatred or bigotry in that??

I came across a story on another forum which I tend to agree with, that Rangers are not dead....only their company died...does the collapse of the company really mean the death of Rangers??
If a club is it's supporters surely Rangers will be alive and kicking in no time.
They have their stadium, supporters, bar Shug, etc etc.

Hatred Shug? doesn't even come close for me!
Where do I start...?
I have been physically beaten, spat on , insulted as a fenian B, tried to be classed as a 2ndClass citizen (unsuccessfully). denied jobs, entry to pubs (even in Tenerife!) and much more ... why would I feel hatred ?
The issue of today is the game of Football in Scotland where rules and integrity are supposed to be enforced but Donkeyasster and even Regan ,as late as yesterday ,admit that Triggers's Broom being placed as high as possible for the sake of a TV contract means the rules don't matter - total corruption!
The SFA/SFL/SPL have to rebuild a better model that can survive without suckling on the nipples of the 2 biggest teams and a TV contract.
The ruling body are about to receive a serious boot up the backside if they do not comply with their own rule book!
When CFC were struggling in 1994 with survival ,I remember the crap and baiting that came our way from all directions - as SuperAlly says "We'll remember the wee fly kicks " - well ,so do we !
Suck it up Shugs , there's much worse to come ...and not just from CFC!
If Bomber Brown succeeds in getting control I will probably die laughing at such an early Xmas present- they deserve him and his anachronistic beliefs!
I hope your 250 season ticket supporters of Trigger's Broom get their money back (or at least their carers get it for them !) I'm shocked that an institution would allow their patients to waste their social money in such a way !

Oh dear.....you still do not understand yourselves.....suffice to say I am posting for the last time here, as all of the regurgitated nonsense is starting to cause extreme nausea

"The issue of today is the game of Football in Scotland where rules and integrity are supposed to be enforced"

Oh yes.....as Angus Jim earlier stated CFC and Old Rangers were peddling the same b*llocks whilst desperately looking for an escape route....from the very leagues that helped them grow....of course aided and abetted by a fair dose of mutual bigotry.

And now we have the piece de resistance !!! At last....persecution........was waiting for that old chestnut.......yes happened to myself for various reasons? the main one being that unfortunately our planet is polluted with a multitude of bell ends from all cultures, creeds, colours & religions.....much like the scum who left my then (14 year old) younger cousin needing 20 odd stitches to his face whilst traveling to a football match across the Irish Sea many years ago....so brave of them to hurl boulders through a coach window at a kid. So please spare me any insults to my intelligence on that score.....leave that to half wits who know no better.

Words that have bandied about recently.....Morality Dignity and Integrity.

Have to laugh at that.

The old club is liquidated. The stadium and supporters are the same.
Nobody know how the newco will look. The Newco have just 8 players
at the moment.

I believe the scottish football doesn´t hang on just two big clubs.
The liquadation of Rangers has a chance for rebuilding the scottish
football without being dependent on just two clubs.

Other clubs have been banned to Div 3. It happen to Livingston
(2006) and to Gretna (2008).

I believe scottish football has more to offer and here´s the chance
for a change.

And although I´m a Celtic fan, I would say the same

They word you need to use with them is "were". They are no more, finito, finished but of course rather than taking the opportunity of starting afresh, new club with none of the religous bigotry and with no defrauding the UK Taxpayer (you and me whether now or in the past) to enable them use that money to further their efforts to beat other, honest law abiding clubs, large (Celtic) and small (Raith Rovers as an example) but, no. Like the hard core twisted support (including members on here)who wish to maintain the old values and carry on the good work they see as having been stolen from them. The licence is one (of many) issues, but these assets are worth more than they were bought for and Paul Mc Conville has pointed out a process whereby they could be snatched back from Green and sold. So, no ground , training ground, car park, money, players or licence could still be possible. And the Rangers Supporters Trust DEMAND, in a rage, that they go to Div 3? They may be feckin lucky to even get that. Burley, just shut up, silly laddie.

I have dealt with numerous administrators over the years with building companies going down due us money and in fact we are dealing 2 at the moment and they are all without exception only intrested in one thing, their fees. They have no interest in the creditors that is a myth, it is very very rare that anything ever happens to directors even when fraud has clearly been committed. In the last 20 years we have received not one penny in the pound back from any claims we have made, the whole system is a farce. Although the scale of this is much much greater I fear the outcome will be the same unless HMRC want to spend a few hundred thousand pounds proving the fraud, and in that case it will be the good old taxpayers footing the bill:(.

I wish people would stop referring to Rangers - Rangers no longer exist, they are officially defunct, dead, no more.

As far as I know, no one has actually said what the new clubs official name will actually be but it WONT be Rangers.

More importantly, they have only been cleared to join the SFL Div 3 - they have still to satisfy the SFA requirements before they will be given a licence to actually allow them to play in any league and one of the main conditions of that being issued is that the newco accepts liability for the old clubs indiscretions.

Until they are re-named we have to refer to them as Rangers!!!

The SFA/SPL lobbied hard to keep Rangers as high in the league structure as possible - bluntly because that is how Scottish football makes the most money (Old Firm games).

It was put to the vote of the clubs, all of whom have virtually unanimously said no - they start at the bottom.

Rangers just spent millions without any reasonable prospect of being able to actually pay out on their debts. Flat out ignored the rules on the basis of 'we're Rangers, they can't let us go'.

I have no opinion on the club either way to be honest, but starting at the bottom is the only way for me. They didn't just break the rules, they assumed they didn't apply to them.

Totally agree with you - the bottom is possibly too good.

My point was actually that at the moment, where they start is academic as they haven't yet satisfied the SFA conditions for their playing licence.

Until they do that they aren't playing anywhere

I remain convinced that they may not play "league" football for at least next season. All the a/c,s, docs, backing etc within the next 3 weeks. Oh. And the start of the Liquidation process. I also think newco will be bust before the SPL flag flies over Celtic Park this coming season.

Try telling any of THAT to some dimwits who are harping on about "this is what we want, Div3 , Nacho and Albertz maybe coming back. ". Aye, for free like? Thats what im reading on Facebook. Aj . we should have the re-organisation but not for the sole purpose of saving Trigger's Broom- Regan & Doncaster having their final fling of the dice?... or Media trying to save their own jobs?
Scottish Football has to adjust to reality and perhaps allow more homebred youngsters into game instead of playing overpaid, overrated foreigners to dominate.

Thing is some times needs must as the saying goes, and it is not only the SPL teams that suffer there is going to be less money handed down to the lower leagues and a few of them will also disappear. Maybe Scottish government / local government will have to stand in with some grant monies to support football teams for a couple of years who knows worrying times

So the apologists continue to deny the wrongdoings of the former "hun". Still trying to strike fear into those clubs who are already flying close to the wind but those who have the courage to stand by their decision on Friday will benefit from the resultant increase in fan revenue thru' the turnstiles. This revenue is free as it does not cost anything to take money from Celtic supporters to pay at the turnstiles and for the additional spend they make in the grounds and revenues taken in the supporters shops. Sky has said nowt so that must mean they are pulling out,-my ****. ESPN continuing in Scotland. Sky will be sure to consider just how many clients they have in Scotland. Per head per capita Scotland has more paying clients (households) than any other part of the UK. Lose a large proportion of that clientele-no chance. They will still have some Scottish involvement, possibly reduced but not wiped out as suggested by Reagan. Up and down the country more and more supporters of clubs saying they intend going back to games and I anticipate at least 5000 traveling Celtic supporters at each away game. That would produce an income of 150,000 pounds twice a year alone! Now that is without their own season tickets and home support. If St. Mirren and ICT are saying that they will go bust then I think that would have happened anyway! Only time will tell but I still see things remaining as now is with "them", "zombies" or whatever they will be called either in Div.3 or nowhere to be seen at the behest of Green the Asset stripper (which I still think highly likely). Monday already. Have a good day bhoys and ghirls. I shall.

Also, many in Ireland, N Ireland and parts of England and Wales too, are Sky subscribers who follow the SPL. It gets better by the day this fiasco

SFA has confirmed that it has the power to enforce the Oldco punishment on the Newco - see HERE (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18873231) for details

Apparently they can apply any conditions they want on the Newco as part of the licence application agreement.

Not quite BobMac , that's why they went to Court of Session and had the embargo overturned as it wasn't on list of sanctions - however if they want transfer of membership (******** by the way) they have to accept Regan's bluff .
They can apply as a New Club but do not meet all criteria and other clubs do - e.g. Spartans !

It has nothing top do with the previous sanctions - apparently the SFA can apply any conditions it wants on accepting a new club into the SFL as detailed in the statement

"However, the SFA has revealed it can attach discretionary conditions to Rangers' application for membership."

"Transfer of membership will be reviewed by the board, which will have the complete discretion to reject or to grant such application on such terms and conditions as the board may think fit."

"Now that the club's status has been confirmed by the SPL and SFL, we will consider the award of transfer once Rangers FC satisfy the necessary criteria."

Fans of other clubs are hardly gloating about the demise of Rangers.

Most of them are just happy that the rest of the clubs actually had the balls to insist that the SPL, SFL and SFA actually applied their rules to Rangers in the same way that they have applied them to other clubs in the past.

I don't doubt for one minute that starting again from scratch will make make them a stronger team, assuming of course that they are willing to accept the conditions imposed by the SFA which will allow them to actually play in SFL Div 3 this season.

If they don't accept these conditions, you might not actually see them play again anywhere.

They might also have some trouble explaining why they played a closed door friendly last night when they don't actually have an SFA licence to play - see HERE (http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/leaguedivision3/4435176/Rangers-2-Airdrie-Utd-1.html#comment-rig) for details

What planet have you come from.

They haven't broken any rules ??

It's a criminal offence to deduct NI and Tax from a persons pay and NOT pass it on to HMRC, hence the OS bill for £124 million pounds owed to HMRC.

If they hadn't been liquidated, somebody would have been given a lengthy holiday at her majesty's pleasure for allowing that to happen.

As for taking their punishment, that's why they still don't have their licence allowing them to play - they are still trying to strongarm the SFA into not applying any sanctions on the licence agreement.

Molestation and abuse of children, Supporting Terrorism and Cheating the Tax man through the years, I am sure that you have heard of 'the biscuit tin and Malley's gate, (thats one of the reasons Rangers are in trouble), yet no punishment!!!!

There are many clubs who have not exactly stuck by the rules, BTW Rangers have not actually broken any rules as far as Taxation is concerned. Other clubs who have gone into administration have not been harrassed as much as Rangers have, wonder why that is, small club jealousy and a hidden agenda by some.

Anyway the club has taken their punishment but everyone still moaning, We will enjoy the SPL clubs suffering the same fate as us in the future. Div 3 will be full of the current SPL clubs in the next couple of years.

WATP and never forget that

What a fully blown nutter you must be....the days of "you being the people" are long gone.
There has been a few Gers men on here and they have been sound but your a real scumbag to be honest....and who is supporting terrorism?? are you talking about your own crowd who regulary make jaunts to the cess-pits of the loyalist parmilitaries in Belfast to adore sectarian murderers and racketeers??Remember this you header,no more second class citizenship for the Irish in Glasgow or anywhere else for that matter.

Scottish football will be in meltdown soon caused by total mis-managment of our club, and people should be jailed for this

Wow seem to have upset the good people on here, I thought I was entering a discussion on the demise of a football club, which I thought would generally be fans of that club having the discussion, but NO as usual its the I hate them more than I love my own club brigade.

Rangers fans do sing bigoted songs and some glorify Unionist paramilitaries I agree but what I was actually saying was that SEPTIC FC actually allow republican organisations, groups and individuals to use their facilities.

Filter off the forum and head back to Fairyvale street and allow fans of all clubs to have civilised and well thought conversations.

We aint fooled, you setout to upset /stir, but it will not bring the good people on this forum down. As The Bloke said, you no longer are the people. Actually you never were in anyone's head but your own. And now, you simple canae hack it. Demoted for cheating and going bust, punishment to follow, follow,- for the other crimes. And good luck to Rangers (ex) FOOTBALL FANS, who just like the game, you are the ones to suffer the most from this .

AJ - in the big time now !! £16 for a ticket and ALBA TV , game moved to Sunday 29th - vying for TV position with the Camanachd Cup Shinty games .
I just hope Trigger's Broom manage to get a licence to play football or you'll have to look out your camans to have a game of Shinty - that might be too Oirish for Sevco Marauders, so lock up yer Bridies!

We are and will always be THE PEOPLE, it says so in the Bible for goodness sake.

Pathetic attempt to have a go IMHO pointing out the obvious with regards to ticket prices etc, water off a ducks back I am afraid. Would be happy watching The Rangers in any form than any other club.

6:1 And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.

6:2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

6:3 And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see.

6:4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.

6:5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.

6:6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

6:7 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.

6:8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

6:11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

6:13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

6:14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

6:15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;

6:16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:

6:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

They are going to get into bother with the wording - they should just nominate the winter and summer transfer windows of 2013 then there will be no dubiety about dates !
The problem is SFA are applying "conditions" for Transfer of Membership and now running roughshod over their newly introduced Disciplinary and Appeals system so totally undermining it !
The tail is wagging the dog again, but I do believe the SPL want more sanctions than SFA are prepared to administer - a lot more pro Trigger's Broom Media Spin to come this week!
If they want to give the impression of being a "Continuity Club" then they are in danger of appearing to HMRC & BDO as a Phoenix Company and expose themselves to the old debts!
Be careful what you wish for!

I am really tiring of all these statements coming from wee fat Sally (who used to be a great guy when I knew him very well as a player with the huns) and others showing or giving out "physical" undertones. A large enough amount of their supporters are daft enough to construe thoughts of fighting on the streets of Glasgow, and elsewhere, without officials of this former club encouraging them by making such statements.

quote
"The Stefan Winiarski Testimonial Match between Kelty Hearts and Rangers on Wednesday has been postponed to a later date due to the SFA not granting Rangers a licence to play any matches, friendlies or competitive.

Rangers have instructed us that an alternative date will be arranged very soon so all tickets and hospitality tickets are still valid for the match.

We are all gutted with all the work done sending tickets out etc, money spent and time put in by volunteers to make the night a great one, as you can imagine Stefan is also sick at this outcome.

Programmes have been printed, food ordered, marquee for hospitality etc. so a thanks must go to the SFA for having a negative impact on not only the top end of Scottish Football but the lower end also. "

Sorry guys, can you help me out here?

Are this team allowed to be called "Rangers"? I thought Rangers went bust.

Every news story and headline uses the name Rangers. If they aren't called that then why are they reported under that name? I know it's obvious who they mean but you'd think the media would have to use the correct title.

I'm not being pedantic or clever here, I genuinely want to know. Thanks.
