We are residents here in Tenerife and would like to know if a list exists for all available dentists that also work for the Spanish national health Service. We can get by with speaking Spanish. If not, can you name any dentists where you can have x-rays and treatment given all under the same roof, that do not charge exorbitant prices, that would be extremely helpful. Once upon a time, didn't the Spanish national health service allow something like one x-ray and one filling or extraction per year, free of charge? We are based in Las Galletas area.

The olnlt 'state' dentists are at the hospital, where you would get treated if it was a serious health risk.

Otherwise you will have to pay the dentist.

If you have private medical insurance for general health, examinations, x rays and cleaning are normally included.

Some companies offer full dental cover, but the price of the policy reflects this

Dental only policy covers all of this and more for 72.56€ per annum ( jan - Dec)

Kids get free checkups as part of the Padican scheme from the age of 6 or 7, but if they need any work doing, such as fillings or extractions, you have to get them done privately.

Kids up to the age of 14 are included free on the DKV Dental policy, which has FREE annual checkup, annual clean, tooth extractions including wisdom teeth and x-rays.

one day the edit facility on this forum will actually work so we don't have to add a new response!

..... For all other treatment you pay a proportion of the total cost e.g. 35€ for a filling that usually costs 65-85€ for private treatment.
