Hi,
We are coming out in 3 weeks time :D and my parents have told me about a walk they went on several years ago - they can't remember much about it but said it was a spectacular walk and was in the South of the Island. They can remember is being called something like Beranco Inferno ?
Is anyone able to give me some more info on it (where it is, how long it is etc etc) ?

Many thanks

I think that that is now closed to the public on safety grounds

See HERE (http://walkingtenerife.co.uk/update-on-the-barranco-del-infierno-in-costa-adeje.htm) for more info

Many thanks for the quick reply - shame to see it closed.
Interesting to see people are still walking it but it has obviously been closed for a reason - as a Dad with a young family i will give it a miss until it re-opens offically (if it does....)
The Article says it was the 2nd most popular walk in Tenerife - would the first be the walk from Masca down to the beach by any chance as this is another walk i have been told about ?

Hi, i live on Tenerife since 1989 and have done every walk on the islands. I can recomend you the "Roque Bermejo" Walk in Anaga. As a Barranco walk you should to the Guimar Barranco. I still do the Barranco del Infierno with some People, but from down where the Adeje Cementury is. Its just for Adults and if posible with helmet. Than you can do the walk from Taucho to Adeje, there is a few caves to see and its quiet a difficult one, since you go about 4 hours downhill.

The Baranco de Infierno has been closed, due to rock falls and the danger of someone being injured. There have been discussions going on for some time on how it can be reopened, without the council being held responsible if someone is injured on a guided walk.

If you walk through the baranco now whilst it is officially closed, not only are you classed as trespassing, but should you become injured and need rescuing you will certainly fall foul of the new law just passed that means that all persons undertaking hazardous activities will be charged the full cost of the rescue by the authorities. This would amount to several thousand euros if a helicopter had to be deployed, almost a certainty in that terrain.

Yes, maybe its closed because of what is said in here or maybe because of political reasons. But anyway, since we live on a vulcanic island there is almost NONE of the walks secure. Everywhere you should be carefull and be aware of falling stone´s ect. Aswell in barrancos like masca o guimar.
