Hello everyone, I have been away from the forum for ages. Can anyone tell me when the new motorway in the north of the island is due to open, please?

I get the picture and understand the manana concept - but is there anywhere to get actual information about this, or does everyone just speculate?

When we bought our house back in 2007, we were told that the new motorway extension would be completed in 2012

When we bought our house back in 2007, we were told that the new motorway extension would be completed in 2012It's still nowhere near finished around the Tejina area. Chio junction still has work to do on the sliproads. If it opens before the end of this year, I'll eat my house :)

Money has been delayed and consequently large works like this have slowed down.

Hi,
During our recent holiday, we drove to Garachico from LC via Santiago Del Tiede and noticed that the extension to the TF1 motorway (I assume it will be an extension and not labelled as a new motorway ?) does not appear to have progressed much since July last year – has work stopped on it due to the current economic climate or is it just coming along rather slowly ?.If it is still being built is there an estimated opening date ?

Many thanks

Hi All,
How is the extension coming along or has it come to a complete halt?
Thanks

Last heard (April 19th) that the works would go ahead some time this year ...despite the cuts in public funding...but as with everything Tenerife don,t hold your breath on it doing so ...

I'm not too familiar with that corner of the island but this recent article from a local paper would indicate things are at a halt. http://eldia.es/criterios/2013-05-15/5-Anillo-Insular-atascado.htm

The chunk between Adeje & Santiago del Teide is 80% done but a wrangle over funding is holding back completion. rolleyes2:

I hiked near it, on both sides of the big tunnel at Arguayo, a couple of months ago. From a distance it looks like it's almost finished, but from close-up you can see that there's a lot of work still to do. One or two engineers were faffing around, but there was no construction happening.

Update on the TF 1 ....http://www.tenerifenews.org.es/wp-content/uploads/Newspapers/EDITION%20481/EDITION%20481.pdfand here's the article...

Further delay for insular ring road
WORK on completing Tenerife south’s insu- lar ring road will be suspended until at least September pending budget discus- sions.
.
Construction of the section between Erques and Chio could begin in October and take about a year and eight months to finish.
The update was given during a meeting with business representatives to discuss how to revitalise the south from a quality and competitiveness point of view.
The Canary Government has still to approve the financial allocation for the project which the island considers absolutely vital to its future.
At least six million euros is needed but this will increase to around 20 million euros to finish off from Adeje to Guia de Isora. One of the main challenges and expenses is a viaduct which would have to be built on the mainland and then installed on site

There is not a fixed date right now . Although some money had been forthcoming from the national government it is not enough to finish the entire stretch

That was quickWell would you believe it ?
The T F 1 extension is open that is, after Atalaya Flyover (Adeje) and onwards towards Santiago Del Teide.
For those of us that live in the areas of Los Menores,Taucho,Tijoco Bajo and Tijoco Alto to name a few places, you need to exit at the Atalaya Flyover/Roundabout otherwise your next exit is Vera de Erques..
