Hi all, I know you can purchase a bono card for 12 or 30 euros.
I am going to arrive late about 11pm at the airport. Can I still get it at the airport, if not where else can I get it? Also, I am staying in Tenerife for a week, at Peurto de Santiago area and would use the bus quite a lot to travel to the south and El Teide. I heard the bus fare is low so was wondering if 12 euros bono card would be enough for the week? Or should I get a 30 euros one instead? ???
Many Thanks!

Can anyone please tell me what time the last bus leaves Santa Cruz back to the South on a Saturday evening.I don't know if that makes any difference to the buses up there but I know down in the South the times of some of the routes change at weekends.

Thanks muchly

Titsa have published a new google map device to find appropriate bus routes from destination A- B , just input starting point A and finishing point B and it will give you routes and journey time .

I don´t know why I am answering this as it makes me feel like a bit of an anorak :ashamed:

I think you need the 115 this is the timetable http://www.titsa.com/index.php?accion=linea&IdLinea=115 and the cost each way per person is Cash ticket € 7.25 Bond € 4.55

Enjoy your trip.

junglejim
20-07-2011, 19:09
Not sure of fare but assume Zara is correct but you can share a Bono Card amongst you / you do not need individual cards so maybe a €30 and a €12 will cover it , cards are valid for 1 year so you can always use the residual money for other small trips and if not enough pay the extra cash and still get Bono discount - how anorak is that !!

Quite a few, the 467, 472, 473 are the most frequent ones, but basically any bus going west from LC will pass through San Eugenio (for Puerto Colon) apart from the airport route where it will say Estacion only, meaning it only goes as far as Las Americas bus station.
A rule of thumb is usually the ones going west are are at the opposite end of the bus station in LC to the Apolo centre.
You need to ask for San Eugenio and that is the next bus stop after you have been into the bus station at Las Americas.
If you get off there, which is outside the San Eugenio shopping centre, just cross the main road, head right towards the Irish Fiddler and the road there will lead down to the port

With the bono within certain areas i.e Cristianos and Las americas if you change buses at the Station for example the second journey is not charged.

For example I live in Chio so I get the 460 to the station in americas the last stop,if I'm going to Cristianos i jump on another bus for free.I think this can be done within a certain time...an hour more or less.

Malagabob.....without a bono you pay full whack for both journeys.

We always seem to wait ages, 20-30 minutes sometime at San Eugenio bus stop late at night (after 11pm) for any bus going back to Los Cristianos. Any info on times of buses so we can stay where we may be and leave in time to catch any bus going our way.

using the 417 as an example..
this leaves 22.00 hrs. guia de isora.. allowing say 30mins to get down to torviscas/san eugenio.....so 22.30 ish..
the last one from guia is 22.45hrs.so 23.15....ish..
there must be other number buses around the same time(s)
i.e. any bus route that starts with 4--, 473 etc.

Just for info for those arriving at Reina Sofia airport - if you want to buy a Bonobus card to get discountedbus fare on Titsa - the little souvenir shop across from main Information desk in centre of concourse once you are through customs etc., just before departure gates is the shop that sells them - the newspaper, sweet shop does not sell them . Airport - bus station with Bono €1.75 this week .

470. It arrives at Los Cris at half past every hour - goes the long way round
or
483. Less frequent but will drop you actually on the motorway and not on the little slip road - It leaves PDLA at 12.30, 1.45, 3.15 and will arrive at Los Cris about 12-15 minutes later dependent on traffic. Your journey time will only be around 15 mins on this bus, as opposed to around 30 on the 470.
Best stop to get off at is probably just before Mercadona, outside one of the car showrooms. You'll need to cross the motorway on foot and then double back a bit to get to Lidl.

imablue
18-11-2011, 10:51
the 111 goes every half hour from los cristianos...get that and get off at Cruce Chafira...cross over the TF1 by way of the roadbridge.....
Lidl is on the opposite side to where you get off and a fair walk.....
Don,t get 110....this does not stop at Cruce Chafira...

There seem to be new timetable sheets stuck onto every bus stop and in the windows of the buses today.
We tried unsuccessfully to work out whether the times have changed at all or whether Titsa just wanted to make the timetables more accessible.
The main problem was that it was impossible to decide whether the times given were for the actual bus stop or for leaving the terminus.
Will have a look at their website but not sure I'll be any the wiser.
The sheets did say "with effect from 19/11/2011" and we caught our 483 from las Chafiras at the usual time!

Help please - have been recommended to try Adeje Chiken which I've been told is situated on a roundabout at Buzanada.
Intend catching the 416 or 418 from LC but don't know where to get off to get to this restaurant, is there only the one bus stop in Buzanada and is it far from there? Also landmarks would help please just to let us know when we are approaching it.

Hi Red Devil,
It's quite simple, coming up from Guaza roundabout, you will see a petrol station on your left, just past that is a small urbanisation on your right, you might see the La Brasa restaurant, and there is a bus stop at the end of that block. When you get past that just ring the bell, and the bus will stop at the next stop. That is the one you want. The restaurant is opposite the bus stop.
Coming back, out of the restaurant, turn right, and the bus stop is there.

Enjoy, the home made chips are lovely! (And the chickens good also.)

I presume you are looking to go to Chayofa which is north of Los Cristianos on the other side of the TF1 on the TF23 and the closest attraction to Chayofa (if you can call it that) is the Camel Park.

I cant see from the TITSA timetable any buses going that way, which is surprising as they tend to go everywhere !

A taxi seems to be the only option.

I'm really confused about the bus service between Golf del Sur and Aeroporto Sur. I’ve used a link to their route planner given to me by thier Facebook team, see here (https://www.google.com/maps?saddr=Amarilla+Golf+%26+Country+Club&daddr=Aeropuerto+Reina+Sofia,+Granadilla+de+Abona, +Spanje&hl=es&sll=28.044175,-16.59438&sspn=0.054012,0.068321&geocode=FQa5qwEdIXIC_yF5v4P9Ps2yEA%3BFVL0qwEd6g0D_ yEBMFmWtoWQig&dirflg=r&ttype=arr&date=28%2F05%2F12&time=2:00pm&noexp=0&noal=0&sort=def&mra=ls&t=m&z=14&start=0).

Depending on the time of day, this says that when going to the airport to catch the 470, 115 or 483 to Parada 7287 or 7286, then walk to Cruce Chafira (Autdel Sur) (Bis) Parada 7179. OK so far.

I clicked the Times/Line link on titsa.com but the 111 line says it does not stop at Parada 7179! It does stop at AEROPUERTO SUR (7571) though, so when I was at the airport I checked the timetable, this says it does stop at Cruce Chafiras!

I think this may be because the Times/Line link only shows the route in one direction, anyone confirm this?

Meaning of course: "Change the direction". My Spanish is almost zero, but even I knew what "cambiar" means, I thought there would be a more prominent button for this, but couldn't see one.

For anyone staying around Dinastia, Castle Harbour or Oasis del Sur area generally, buses on a few routes now stop outside Dinastia both outward and inwards as well as the bus station in LC.
This means you can catch a bus direct to Las Americas etc without having to walk down to the bus station.

There are 2 stops on that stretch, the first one just a bit higher up than Oasis Mango, then the second stop is across the road from Dinastia front entrance, almost on the roundabout.

Then, vice versa, coming home you can stay on the bus, once it leaves the bus station in LC there is another stop outside the language school, then one outside Dinastia and the last one (before going on the back road to Guaza) is opposite Vista Hermosa.

Going in the opposite direction ie Granadilla, of course you can also catch the bus at these stops instead of the bus station.

The routes using this roadare the 416 Granadilla/Adeje, 418 La Caleta/Valle San Lorenzo and the 467 Las Galletas/Costa Adeje

Be careful as there are only these certain routes that use that road, the main bus route out of town is still up to the motorway past Hiper Trebol but these are useful if you dont want the walk up the hill from town.

It was only the same fare also, regardless of where you got off:spin:

So you put this in a machine as you enter the bus? How does it know when you get off?

junglejim
21-07-2012, 09:06
Yes the card reader - you tell the driver your destination and he/she punches in the fare on his console- he /she tells you when to get off if you go beyond your fare!:nono:
On the Tranvia(tram) it's a fixed fare and inspectors come on occasionally - if you haven't paid the fines are steep and immediate!:redcard:

You put the bono card in the 'machine' as you get on the bus, you tell the driver where you want to go and it will debit the 'money' from your card (assuming you have enough on it) if you dont, you pay the outstanding amount in cash.

The card will pop up and you get off where you want to go. The simple answer to your question is the bono card doesnt know when you get off nor does it care but the driver might ! and probably they have some inspectors but have never seen one

Yes you shove it into the machine by the front window or next to the drivers right shoulder whilst telling him / her where you want to go.

There is no record of passengers exiting the bus - however , fares are very cheap so resort hopping (Los Cristianos to Fanabe say ) is only €1.10 or so .

Everyone types faster than me :)

I have once seen ticket inspectors on a TITSA bus, so they do exist but they're not common. Two of them got on at once, and checked everyone's tickets - not just for the destination, but also for the photo-ID of passengers who were using the student discount. When I got off, they were having an "intense" discussion with one of the passengers.

A tip for those who haven't ridden the bus before: a display at the front of the cabin is often switched on, and is linked to a GPS receiver. When the bus is getting near a stop, it displays "Proxima Parada" (which means "Next Stop") plus the stop name. Very convenient.

I have seen inspectors on Tranvia and they are very officious - like most Spansh Civil Servants!

Thanks for the info. I didn't realise the driver did the fare, I assumed it was a simple validation machine. Not planning on trying to ride for free :lol:

No way will you ever ride for free..the ticket that you put in the machine gets the amount deducted ...i,d think the driver doesn,t give a toss where you get off ..( so long as its the rear to middle door .)you paid to where you said so there you go ...

Hi folks.
I wonder if anyone can help with transport from Los Cristianos to the port in Santa Cruz. A friend is holidaying in LC and hopes to take a cruise from Santa Cruz. I have looked at the bus timetable but am not seeing what I need. A taxi is out of the question because of the cost. Hope someone can help.

Simple - the 111/110( Direct) goes to bus station every half hour and when you come off , take the tram 1 stop along to stop Fundacion (if you use a bono card, the tram ride is free). The cruise area is directly across the street from Plaza Espana .

If you take a taxi from Santa Cruz bus station to port area, it doesn't look far but will cost about €7 !

Thanks very much for the prompt reply. Another question, what is a Bono card?

Carina

The quickest way is getting the bus 110, (ticket will cost between 5 - 5.50 Euro I guess- this is using the bonos bus, otherwise will be more expensive) this gone goes directly to the intercambiador (central bus station) in Santa Cruz, next to the Corte Ingles. From there he can get a taxi to the harbour.
Enjoy the cruise!

TITSA on your mobilel
For those who use smartphones (and buses), entering www.titsa.com into your mobile browser will bring up the page for mobiles. Have your GPS switched on and it will tell you the nearest stops, and route numbers etc with a map of where you are currently situated. You can plan a journey to a chosen destination plus other bits n bobs. Have a play.

Fixer -they put a surcharge of €1or €2 earlier in summer when arriving at or leaving Airport depending on distance being travelled - a tourist tax in effect .
If you travel from LC or PDLA to stop beyond airport, Granadilla Cruce, it is 80 cents cheaper !

Tenerife buses are very useful and very cheap way of communication and more comfy than many UK public buses.The Tenerife buses run frequently over the island's main roads. The bus service can be infrequent off the main roads.

And you can purchase a Bono card at a shop in the Airport:flatcap: if you get there before the shop closes

TITSA is one of the best bus company in Tenerife and covers every corner of the island. They operate a modern fleet of bright green buses. You can either pay for each individual trip or buy a "bono-bus" for 12 or 30 euros. These passes can be used on every route, can be shared between several people and save about 50 percent on the price of a ticket.
The Bono tickets are now €15 or €25 for travel and are not accepted on the bus up to Teide any more .

I recently returned from a great holiday in Tenerife. However, I have 25.40 EUR remaining on a Bono Via card for bus travel. It was originally the new 50 EUR card, first validated a week and a half ago and therefore valid for the next 2 1/2 weeks as they have a month validity. Any idea what I can do with it as I won't be returning in this time. Perhaps someone would like to buy it for 15 EUR?

Also you can get off half way on the journey but don't pay anymore, you just carry on with the trip. Is that also right?

How can I find out how long it will take my bus to arrive at a specific bus stop?

By sending a text message from your mobile to 7551, inserting TITSA followed by a spacethe bus-stop number in question. In a few seconds, you will receive a message with the times of the buses that pass by that bus stop.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~
Does anyone know if TITSA still offer a texting service. It does not seem to work for me or is it because it's Sunday ?
If you have a smart phone you can download a free app from titsa, works fine (so far!!!) :whistle:
There's also an iPhone app called "GuaguApp" that looks good but I haven't tried it in Tenerife yet.
The app GuaguApp works great and is mainly reliable, the odd bus doesn't have their GPS working so you might get one quicker unexpectedly but it works great and free through internet on app on your phone. You will need a smartphone to use it like and Apple iphone.
This has really helped me and the Mrs with the changes of times in seasons, now just take a quick look on the app and you can identify how long a bus will be to arrive at any bus stop.
I recently went from Los Cristianos bus station to TFS airport on the 111, my bono card showed I had got on at 0952.
I returned on the 111 from the airport back to Los Cristianos bus station, my bono card showed I had got on at 1025 (yes a very very quick trip which was to only take someone to the airport for their flight).
I was charged €2.80 for each journey even though the complete round trip was less than 1 hour ! So much for cheap return fares.
Well we could talk about difference in fares all night i suppose.
I get a bono journey from Tijoco Bajo to Las Americas for 1.35 thats about 8 kilometres, from Tijoco to the airport its 27 kilometres,,so on that working out ,your fare of 2.80 is very reasonable...........
Thanks for your reply. The point I was trying to make and having reread my post I didn't make it clearly at all ! was that I thought there was a 'discount' on a return fare if the return journey was made within a certain amount of time of the outbound journey.
Maybe journeys to/from the airport are excluded from this benefit as its normally undertaken by tourists, as can be seen by the 1€ premium added for those journeys, a year or so ago, that start at or go to the airport.
On reflection I suppose that if you are going to/from the airport you are unlikely to return to your original departure point within an hour or so.
I believe fares are dearer to the airport and seem to have risen considerably in recent years it's all to do with tourism, you can no longer use a bono on the bus from Los Cris to Teide, whereas fares from Santa Cruz to the Anaga used mainly by locals are ridicously cheap. I don't understand Tenerife in relation to the EU where residents get concessions on flights and attractions such as Loro Park.
I originally posted the bit about the new Bono swipe card here and then thought it probably warrented its own thread so I cut/pasted it to its own new thread As you know you cant leave an empty post, so I put my oops etc, (was originally just one oops but it has to be at least 10 characters put another one) I forgot to go back and put about more description to explain why the oops. Perhaps I should have left the original post and just started a new thread.
3 weeks ago i went from TFS to Santa Cruz the cost with the bono card was 6 euro 95 cents .
I caught the same bus back and alighted at Las Chafiris Autopista . The Gua Gua traveled through TFS on my return . I was amazed that i traveled further for less as my return journey was only 5 euro and 5 cents. Some where in this post is a moral ( lie about your destination) :flatcap::feret::feret::feret::feret:
I believe there is a supplement of a euro for any journey starting or stopping at an airport.
I believe there is a supplement of a euro for any journey starting or stopping at an airport.
The airport supplement is one euro for journeys up to 33km (such as TFS to Americas) and two euros for longer journeys (such as TFS to Santa Cruz).
Yes that is true. I caught the 111 to TFS from Los Cris but asked for San Isidro (further along the motorway) rather than the airport, charged 1.95euro instead of 2.95 if I had said I was going to airport.
