Bargain chain store heads for Santa Cruz — and will boost economy PRIMARK, the cheap-as-chips fashion chain store which has taken the UK, Spain and the rest of Europe by storm, is heading for Tenerife. And that will be sweet music to the ears of many Islanders, who are happy to fly off to Gran Canaria regularly to stock up on their low-cost clothing.
It will certainly provide a feel-good factor throughout Tenerife, for shoppers and workers alike, especially in these austere times with an increase in IGIC, followed by the Spanish Government’s VAT rises, hitting our pockets
A date has not yet been set but the company, which was founded inIreland, is expected to open inSanta Cruzat the end of this year or, at the latest, early 2013.
So, it is all systems go for the grand opening in the capital’s Centro Comercial Meridiano, where officials have confirmed that they are “in negotiations” with Primark.
