Has anyone any experience of these apartments.

Do Malibu Park charge a refundable breakages deposit?

Thanks

My friend has moved in there and it seems very well maintained, and its very quiet where she is. She had to pay one months rent as deposit but as she is only young and skint, they are allowing her to pay it off monthly with her rent.x

We stopped in these apartments the first time we came over to the rock, it was a while ago and I think at the time there was a refundable deposit, but then at that time it was not uncommon. Now I dont think that many places do the deposit situation anymore, but I could be wrong, they were lovely and quiet apartments but up a steep hill. Good for a cardio workout or do what we did, walk down and get a taxi back up.

They are quite small apartments in my opnion, and its a bit of a mission to the good bars and restraunts as its very quiet up there at the moment so would reccomend a car or a taxi ;)

thanks, I'm quite happy to walk up the hill as I live at the top of a very steep hill here anyway so I am used to it! Plus it's good excercise.

I have been meaning to write a review of these apartments since I came back, I have eventually got around to doing it.....

After booking to go to the Malibu Park I decided to read some reviews and then I was a bit dubious to say the least as there seemed to be quite a few bad reports but I am the sort of person who will decide for myself and if it is bad then ho hum.

As we arrived to book in the staff were friendly and check in was smooth. On the Thomas Cook website it states that a refundable breakages deposit is required but we were not asked for this. I heard that it is only required for all male or all female parties. We hired a safe and we were shown how to use it and set our own pin number for it (the guy walked away whilst I did it) The safe was €20 with a returnable €5 deposit, that was for the 2 weeks we were there.

As we walked to the apartment I thought to myself that the complex looked very nice and clean. Once inside the apartment I was pleasantly surprised. It was clean, roomy and had a kettle and toaster and also had an oven as well as the hob. There was plenty of cooking utensils even a frying pan, corkscrew and tin opener. I have often found these to be lacking in some apartments. The terrace was large, plenty of room to lie a couple of lilos down to sunbathe on. There was a tv in the room but there was a charge to use it. I don't know how much as I don't watch tv on holiday. We had a 1 bedroom apartment for me, my OH and 13 year old daughter. The sofabed turned out to be a proper pull out bed from under the sofa with a proper mattress, this could also be a double bed as it was the same height as the sofa when the fold out legs were extended. There were extra pillows and blankets if required in a cupboard.

There was a maid service 6 days out of 7 and towels were changed if you left them by the door. They mopped with a cockroach repellant which worked as I never saw 1 in the apartment and we were on the ground floor, although I saw 3 dead ones on the terrace. That repellant must be good stuff!

Cat from The Terrace bar was there to welcome new guests as they checked in and gave us a leaflet with info about the bar. We took advantage of the meal deal on offer, €35 each for 2 meals a day for 6 days, and we didn't have to take them on consecutive days so we could still eat out at our favourite restaurants too.

The Next Door Bar and The Terrace are very friendly and very reasonably priced. Free wifi in the bar too. There is also a Splash bar by the pool, also friendly and well priced. The pool is a decent size, however it is all one depth - 1.90m however the kids area of the pool was quite large. On the first couple of days there didn't seem to be enough sunbeds but one morning we got up to find plenty of new ones. Even for the time of year we went (july/august) it wasn't always a rush to get one, some days there were still free sunbeds at 10.30am.

The location of these apartments can be deceiving, they seem a long way out but it took us about 10 mins to walk down to the bars and restaurants, and say 25 mins to walk to fanabe beach front. If we were drinking at the Irish Rover or the Rumpot we usually walked back or if we were on the front we got a taxi from the stand by Santa Maria, it cost €3.50 and that's at about 1/2am. The hill up to the complex has been decribed as cardiac hill however it all depends on what you call a hill. I live on the edge of the pennines and at the top of a steep hill so to me it was just a slight slope.

I went on a package deal with Thomas Cook but there are plenty of apartments available to rent privately so I cannot comment on the quality of these although they all looked to be fine from the outside. There are bars on all downstairs windows obviously as a safety feature, in the bedroom there was a top window that we left open all the time to cool the bedroom.

I would defiantely stay at these apartments again. Here are some photos

The bathroom could do with updating but was clean and functional
