ddoyle, I too tried to find out about import duties before bringing my 2010 Mazda CX7 here from Bulgaria (Originally bought in Bavaria) but there was so many conflicting suggestions that came back! Nobody seemed to know the correct answer! Now I have submitted all through a German Lady agent who speaks Spanish and have paid EU 2200 Including her fee of EU 400. In hind sight I would not have brought it if I had of know the true cost! It has taken 2 months so far and still I await my temporary plates!! being Xmas I don't suppose anything will materialize for another 2 weeks yet :-(. With hiring a car for the past months I bet my total expense for the car will be around EU 3000!!! :-(

yeah its crazy, they say dont bring your own car buy here - but all cars in tenerife are rubbish and expensive, its really sucks. as far as i know you need to pay tax depending on your co2 emissions, the highest bracket i think 14.5% of the value of the car. @ozzy i think that german lady is really **** no offence, but i doing it with local agent and her fee 250, and green plates should be next week then i submitted papers about 10 days ago.

They guy is excellent, can't fault him.

For an example, my twenty year old Honda Civic saloon cost me €600 in total - all charges, taxes, ITV, road tax, Jesus fees included.
