View Full Version : Our first grandchild was born today
Became a grandparent for the first time today. My daughter had a wee girl at 2.01 this morning. Both well. Her name is Isla and weighed in at 7lbs. She is 3 weeks early and I've not finished the nursery yet ! So guess where I'm going today? Answers on the back of a fiver please :tongue:

Congratulations to you Norman also Ann, your daughter and the rest of the family, now you can start saving to take Isla to Tenerife on holiday, where instead of going to the pub you can baby sit, just like all us proud grandparents do.

Maybe the true answer to the question is a visit to Irvine harbor for a wee celebration at the Ship Inn!!

Congratulations on your new grandchild, I remember people saying what a pleasure they were and they are . Only this year since mine stopped coming to Tenerife with us on her own and she is 18 now, loved the place as much as we did but obviousiy we are not cool now lol. Ecky and the Ship Inn at Irvine , have you ever tasted a better steak pie!!!

Many congratulations to you and your wife, also to the proud parents. I am sure you will enjoy.
I now wait to be a Great Nan but with the way youngsters are today I think I will have to wait a long time. Do not blame them they want to have some fun first before settling down.

congrats to you and your family, she will keep you on your toes in about 12-18 months time when she starts running about and climbing into anything she isn't supposed to lol as we have found out after becoming great uncle and aunt to our nephew's little lad:lol:

congratulations to the happy proud grandparents and of course the happy parents. I love the name and being a grandparent is the best thing in the world I love being a Nana
We need to see a photo soon please.
My daughter and her husband are delighted that so many people love the name. Many of our friends have said the same. They didn't name her till about 3 hours after she was born. They had a short list but just wanted to look at her and see what fitted best. I'm sure they have made a good choice.
Looking forward to a new stage in my life and going by the posts, it will be a great stage.

Gillian & Isla both doing great. Isla is so contented looking. My daughter text me this morning saying that Isla was the only baby not crying. (Takes after her grandad obviously !) She is hoping to get home today - then the fun really begins. Tried to attach some photos but had a problem with size or something. I will consult my IT specialists (my kids) to solve the problem. Well better get my DIY gear on and get up to the nursery.

While my daughter was carrying the baby, it was just a bump, but now it's a wee person I cant believe how much I just want to hold her and look at her. Sorry to bore you but I'm not usually this sentimental. It might wear off ! ;)
