Tenerife Tourism is drafting four new projects to improve the tourist areas of the island, requiring an investment of more than 7.8 million euros. The plan was agreed during the course of the last meeting of the Regeneration Convention held recently under the chairmanship of the Cabildo Minister of Tourism, Carlos Alonso. The Minister explained that this time, “We have opted to prioritise the areas situated along the coast and those located at the convergence of several tourist towns, as in the case of Santiago del Teide and Guía de Isora”.

He also noted that, for these actions to improve the tourist space to be successful, “It is essential to have collaboration and coordination between administrations, something we put in place more than five years ago and it has been very successful.”

New projects are approved, specifically, for work on the boulevard Chayofe, near the Los Cristianos Cultural Centre, with a budget of around 2.2 million. The second project is for the improvement of the waterfront between the plaza and Puerto Colón, in themunicipalityofAdeje, costing in excess of 4.1 million euros.

In Puerto de la Cruz the coastal pathway located between the Mirador Agatha Christie and the Mirador de la Paz will be worked on to the tune of 400,000 euros.

Finally, during the meeting they approved the drafting of a project for the avenida Marítima de Puerto Santiago, between the calle La Alpispa and Punta Negra, which will go a long way to improving the entrance into Playa de la Arena. The budget for this project amounts to 1.1 million.
