I'm enquiring if anyone would like to hire a car in Tenerife, I'll pay the money but I have no license. I only want the car to sleep in as it will save me lots of euros on hotel expenses, then you can use it all day everyday for 2 weeks, I'd just need it parked in the same place so I know where my bed is haha I'll also hand something of value over in the evenings so you know I won't just drive off. Just an idea so all feed back welcome. Cheers

Or you could just hold onto the keys and let me in when I need to sleep :) I know it sounds daft but its far cheaper than a hotel. Cheers

Well done sir, you can park it at Green Park on Golf Del Sur. I will explain to the security man that you come from Yorkshire.
PS Its on a bus route.

Unless you have already booked your flight you should check out the package prices. Often you'll end up paying only £100 or so a week for the hotel cf flight only.

Either that or save the car and sleep on a beach somewhere.

Thankyou sundowner that's a really great offer and I might take you up on it :)

A car costs 50 English pounds a week, I've already booked flight. I would sleep on the beach but it's illegal?!?! Lol :D

You dont need a tent, plenty of caves around, some with nice views. Walking distance of airport. Keep your eyes skinned as you come in to land.

The OP has been led to believe that the sun never sets in Tenerife and is always shining whatever happens so please post positive things instead of these negative postings.

Can't believe the amount of snobs on here. I've slept in many cars, on the side of mountains and woken up in stranger places.

I may have a van you can use fairly soon but I can't guarantee anything as it depends on the ITV. When are you thinking of coming over? If it stops everyone taking the pi** out of you you can have it for nothing.

You know, reading this thread I was suddenly thrown back to my school years. You know, the "you're poor so therefore that gives us the right to mock you" and "What? You got that 2nd hand? *****!". It's bullying and you should be ashamed. I hope you all havent put him off coming here because frankly you're about as welcoming as the island with the wicker man. Must be lovely to be so comfortably well off!

Bring a sleeping bag to kip on the beach as a backup plan, but make friends on your way over or out in town. Buy a couple of rounds and you're bound to meet someone with a spare couch to sleep on, many holiday apartments have extra beds. But planning on sleeping in a little car that you can't drive yourself just doesn't sound practical.

Sleeping in the beach may be illegal during the night but its fine during the day, so stay up all night drinking and go to sleep when the sun comes up, no one can complain about that.

Hi Phil , i did that hitchhiking thing all over Spain when i was in my twenties. The only worry you have is where to dump the rucksack so that you still have it after a night on the ****.

Sounds like fun. I spent 3 summers living in an escort van in Greece, Spain and in the Canaries. Then we had a proper motorhome for a couple of years and had another summer out here. I love the "home is where you park it" feeling.

But when I was without a van, I found that there's usually luggage lockers at the train / bus station. Not sure about here though. On a couple of occasions I managed to blag a hotel to look after it for me. Just pick one that's busy, make sure you know a valid room number and you're sorted. This one only works for a night at a time, but hey, there's lots of hotels in Las Americas. It all adds to the fun, :)

Medman, I'm away next week but let's catch up for a beer when I am back the week after, and anyone else who fancies a drink in our lovely town (Medano) :)

Years ago I was a member of http://www.couchsurfing.org/

It was a forum that you advertised beds/couches that were available to travelers for free.
This was/is a worldwide service and it works similar to Ebay feedback where the host and guest leave their thoughts and experiences on each others profile.
It's a brilliant idea and I had some interesting people stay with me including a band called Taxi to the Ocean from Holland that were on a UK tour supporting the Stranglers.

To say thank you they gave me complementary tickets to the show.

Other experiences included one guest fixing little problems around the apartment and others cooking their native dishes.

Not sure how many active members there are on this forum but if we all put in a small donation, probably only need a few euros each , could we not put Dashford up in a cheap hotel or apartment for the two weeks.

After all he's kept everyone entertained for the last day or so, call it value for money!
