Good Evening Everyone,

My husband and I recently moved to La Tejita and I had IPTV ordered through Tenerife Telecom. However it now transpires that due to our rural location we have a maximum 1MB broadband speed (not sufficient for the IPTV box). We can stream some tv from the internet but it constantly buffers and is very annoying

Is there any other way to get English tv other than by the internet or a 5 meter dish (we are in a rented house so this is not an option).

I know we have just moved to a beautiful Island and should be out enjoying it but I'm ashamed to say that I miss my X Factor terribly!!!!! :ashamed:

Thanks in advance

Claire

Make the most of it and go out to a bar that shows it best of both worlds , with only 1MB speed you will not be able to get tv with out the buffering , there is a box you can get and you pay about 90 euros a year , for english tv and you have to top it up every year ,, we have a box an Ariel that we do not use as we have direct telecom broadband tv , we brought it and used it for a few years , it works you could give it a try and we will go to swop over to your name , we payed 50 euros so let me no if you want to try to see if it works in your area .

You can download most programmes so can still watch just not live.

http://www.realitytvfan.org/ or http://www.realitytvfan.org/category/the-x-factor/the-x-factor-uk-9/

It's not always on straight away, sometimes a day or two after... just play around and try the different links (putlocker seems to be the best one if she posts that video player system) - normally I press play, then as soon as it starts playing, press pause and give it a while (depending on your ADSL speed for the day) until it's loaded, then you can watch it in peace, with no buffering or adverts :D

If you had a better speed, filmon.com is a good website too.

I approached Direct Telecom to supply a complete package including TV down the phone line, but they declined as we are too far from the exchange and only have 2mb, they insisted that we needed at least 3mb to avoid buffering etc.
I have reactivated my old account with Europa since they have de-bugged their system; it works fine with only the odd picture freeze.

I live in Calloa Salvaje, Costa Adeje, and rent a box from Premier Communications for €30 per month which gives me BBC1, BBC2, ITV, CH4, CH5.
I have been using it for over a year now with minimal interference.
It is worth it just to see Downton Abbey, and to watch the British weather forecasts!

Do you have to sign a contrat for twelve months with the box from Premier communications or longer?

see if you have wimax coverage in your area, Tenerife Telecom, bit expensive but worth it if you need your daily fix

Until you can resolve the issue of d/l speeds, and for sure you need 2,5mgps and over to get any form of internet tv either live or recorded, I just don,t see a resolution to this ..
Do you have a smartphone and if so what speed can you achieve on that? That might be a way out but expensive! Best of luck.

With all due respect if you read the O/p,s original posting you will see that the maximum D/l speed they can achieve is is 1 Mbps. Under no circumstances will a VPn work to enable video playing. Normally, as I,ve already said on here the minimum requirement for video is 2/3 Mbps so to use the VPn successfully his original D/l speed should be 4 Mbps. as a VPn takes about 1 point off basic speeds.
