THE Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company has appointed David Cayuela the new CEO of Abama Golf & Spa Resort, located in Guía de Isora. With this new addition to the resort’s management team, a new stage begins at Abama, whose main goal is to continue to provide the quality and excellence that distinguishes the complex and also innovate and shape results by means of the best use of resources and thereby promote growth in sales.

With over 26 years experience in the tourism sector in Europe, the U.S., Mexico, South America and Asia, David Cayuela is a customer-oriented professional who always seeks to offer unique services, operational strategies and new sales and marketing techniques.

His career has seen him travel around the world, occupying different positions in deluxe hotel chains such as Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts,Fairmont- Raffles Hotels & Resorts, Meliá Hotels Internationals, The Ritz Carlton Hotel Company and Hilton. He speaks seven languages (Castilian, Catalan, French, English, Portuguese, Italian and German) and has a Diploma in Business and Tourism Activities and a specialty diploma in hotels with the CETT. Plus, he has the official Spanish Sommelier diploma.

With this background, the resort will benefit from the skills of its new director and his extensive experience. Meanwhile, David Cayuela faces his new job with satisfaction and says his main goal is to turn Abama Golf & Spa Resort into the best resort in southernEurope.

Located in Guia de Isora, with spectacular views of theislandofGomera, the Abama Golf & Spa Resort resembles a Moorish citadel. With a clear African influence in its decor, Abama Golf & Spa Resort offers 321 rooms in the Citadel and 148 rooms and suites in Villas. In addition, Abama Golf & Spa Resort has recently opened the Tagor Villas, a unique new concept in “adults only” accommodation. The 36 rooms that make up the Tagor Abama Villas, six of which are suites, are far from the main building, surrounded by botanical gardens, towards the ocean. Located on an estate of 160 hectares, the Abama Golf & Spa Resort is surrounded by subtropical vegetation. Up to 90,000 trees and shrubs and palm trees of 300 different species are part of the complex designed by the internationally renowned architect Melvin Villarroel.
