It seems mad that these people are obliged to go to work, because if they don't, they lose rights to paro etc. however they are not getting paid. The same thing is happening to the employees at chemists and I know of some maintenance workers that also have not been paid for 3 months.

How are they supposed to have a Merry Christmas when they can't even afford to feed themselves?

Something needs to be done.

I wonder how much spare cash the politicians in Arona have this Christmas?

this seems to be quite common , we had some cement & sand delivered a few months ago & the driver told us what staff they had left hadnīt been paid for months , they were all hanging on in hope things would pick up, they had worked there years, we here of it quite often, very sad.

Some sort of democracy eh??? It's unbelievable! I remember the same thing happened with the Refuge collectors a while back in Arona!

I passed the lifeguards at Vista Beach LC when recently out and I found it unbelievable they hadn't been paid for so long. I guess that's the same for the politicians too, just no money to pay them......? Yah think!

I expect the politicians get their wonga! On a TV programme last night they said that the councils will not have enough to pay for necessary drugs soon! :(

In reality, the council are not their employer. The job is sub contracted out.

The firm say the council haven't paid, the council say they have. Surely it can't be that difficult to prove?

Either way, the sub contract firm is at fault here. it's their responsibility to pay it's employees even if cashflow is slow.

I reckon in England the Council would be liable, as it is THEIR Subcontractors who have "Renaged"

Sounds as if They need a good Union Rep to file a 2Ģ$%$ against the Council.?

Does anyone know what the latest situation is on the Life Guards being paid, or are they still not being paid wages?
