Can anyone recomend a hotel in Gran Canaria for a mini break from Tenerife?

We fancy a mini break in gran canaria around the end if January. We have our residencia and there are good flights with binter from the south. Can anyone recommend a good hotel, preferably one that offers a reduction for residents. We won't have transport so need to be able to walk to or get buses to interesting places and restaurants.
Any suggestions? Don't mind whether its self catering or hotel or all inclusive. Just open to suggestions really.

Puerto Rico is all reachable by walking and you can get a bus from the airport. We stayed in Cala Blanca last time which is a bit put of the centre but a lovely little resort

I know you say you fancy Gran Canaria , but have you considered elsewhere on Tenerife well out of road such as Icod or Garachico for example - totally different ?
By the time you pay and do air travel , travelling time etc you may get better value(and discount) by accessing somewhere on Tenerife and help local economy !
