If I said it was €4 (I don't know) but someone was willing to work for €3.50 then I suppose it would be €3.50. In other words whatever someone is prepared to work for. That's the black economy for you...

It is HT, but so many people are looking for work they are willing to undercut each other for a job. It's an employer's market.

Thats about what we all get after tax, daily mail today, you end up with 50% of what you earn, I said that on here months ago, simple plan, dont tell them what you earn, unless you have no choice, every body should be self employed, then you get what you deserve, not what you can skank, stop the hand outs, if you dont work, you dont eat,

It's actually a daily or monthly rate ... and is very low, I'm afraid

for 2011 21,38 € per day 641,40 € per month

I`ve seen that i think on every single persons Facebook page over the last few weeks

Take the UK @ €1148 minus 25% in contributions OUT OF WAGE

Take Spains €641,40 >25% for contributions by the company

Is there a great lot of difference?

Not everyone is on minimum wage in Spain nor Tenerife

Would the solution be to just pay people €10 an hour and hope they all spend it?

The solution for Spain runs a lot deeper than a wage rise

:)And I didn't say €4 was the minimum wage. I said I didn't know and only used that figure as an example.

I think the point that a lot of people are missing is the fact that an employee in Spain, who earns 1000 a month actually costs the employer nearly two thirds more.

In the UK, as a lot mention, the average wage is about 2000 a month, but how much do you take home from that?

If you are sacked do you get a percentage of your final wage, or do you get basic unemployment benefit.

The system here is different. You pay in and then benefit.

In the UK. You benefit and then pay in if you feel like it.

No Sparkies aren't.

Is Muppet, Taxmans revenge................sniff.

We probably pay well over 50% in uk if you consider evrything we buy is taxed, the fuel to deliver it is high in tax. We pay 40% some of us on earnings over a certain hit and the vat.

We all try and get the odd bit tax free and don't tell me you have never paid cash for discount Muppet, coz that is exactly the same as, say a builder not declaring the cash job.

yes, doreen, you are correct, but this is the minimum wage per month on a full time contract, based on 40hrs per week, not part time, as the OP wanted to know... i have seen nominas around 300 euros for 15-20hrs per week.

What sort of job is it you can pay staff 600 for a 40 hour weeek as this is one I want to get into.

I would say 5 euros an hour but this doesn't include the other payemnts you as an employer need to pay it it what they take home.

The ones that normally come with half a contract and are British employers :wall:

I don't think it meant 600 per week but per month for a 40 Hour week

If you pay employees more money they'll only spend it

Don't forget that the 640 per month minimum wage assumes 14 payments per year.

Whatever it is you can bet somebody will work on the black for less! Many Brits now coming up to pension age are having to return to the UK.They have worked here for years without paying social security and don't have free medical care or a pension.Their employers will tell you that they were advised by local Gestores that it would be impossible to pay them the going rate and also pay thier social security so they gave their staff cash in hand without any thought to the future. Unfair but very common.
