View Full Version : It’s Santa Cruise month in the Capital

NEARLY 9,000 cruise passengers and crews from four ships will cram into Santa Cruznext Friday (8th Feb).
They form part of a 77,500-visitor bonanza in the capital city this month, in which a total of 30 cruise ships will call at the port.
Of that figure, 16,940 will comprise ship’s crews, and among the great cruisers will be the MSC Divina and the Norwegian Spirit.
Port authorities will also be saying hello to an old friend, The World, a huge ship with 110 apartments and 88 suites, each said to cost between a mind-boggling 2.5m to 8m euros. It will be docking there for the first time since April 2002.
The great rush actually gets underway today (Friday) sees the appearance of Majesty Thomson and La Belle de L’Adriatique, who are based at Santa Cruz Port.
They will see more than 3,400 passengers and crew disembarking and will then welcome aboard a new set of cruisers.
The port’s week actually got underway on Tuesday with a visit from the AID Abella, carrying 2,200 passengers and 620 crew. That was followed the next day by the Norwegian Spirit, with 2,000 cruisers and nearly 1,000 crew.
