Tenerife Tourism is aiming to strengthen the presence of the island in a region from which it received 250,000 travellers in 2012, 22% more than in 2011.
With this in view, Tenerife Tourism has issued a tender to hire tourism representation services, communication, media relations and economic development to attract investment from Russia,Ukraine and other Eastern countries.
The subsidiary of the Cabildo thereby seeks to strengthen the presence of the island in a region that receives increasingly more travellers: 250,000 tourists in 2012, representing growth of up to 25% in cases like Russia or 18% in Ukraine. Economic Vice President and Minister of Tourism of the Cabildo, Carlos Alonso, said that “It is the first time we will have a company that provides these services to us in this region”.
“We have offices in Spain,Germany,UK and France, where the results in terms of advocacy and presence on the island is very satisfactory.”
The Councillor believes that “direct contact with the media through a specialised agency is critical to the success of campaigns and promotional activities that we put in place, we open the possibility of attracting investment to the island, one of the new lines we are working on making a major commitment.”
In the area of communication and media relations, among the main objectives of the contract including the re-launch and maintaining the presence of Tenerife in the press and other media, developing innovative actions and prestige of the island, while communicating to a wider audience the message of a holiday destination.
In the field of tourism representation the aim is to attract new tour operators, organising events and meetings with travel agents and coordination of major campaigns and conventions.
Among the criteria for choosing the company it would be preferable for headquarters or offices inMoscow. The successful company will need to develop an action plan with actions that will be of most interest to direct customer-facing professionals.
Among other functions, the contractor will develop strategic planning and effective advice about public relations, as well as develop a comprehensive media plan. The development of press releases and promotional literature on Tenerife and organise media visits to the island. Deadline for nominations will remain open until February 21st and the tender budget is 100,000 euros.
