THE most luxurious cruise ship ever built docked in Santa Cruz on Wednesday.
It is called The World, and it really is a world away from what most people would ever consider for a holiday because the cost is exorbitant.
Although it is huge, the ship holds just 300 passengers and 150 crew members. And unlike regular cruise ships, you can’t simply buy a ticket and hop on for a cruise around the Med, say.
Those aboard a ship featuring 12 passenger decks have either bought outright, or leased, one of the 165 luxury apartments at a cost of some 2½ 8 million euros. And that’s without travel costs and maintenance fees!.
But the chosen few who can afford it are spoiled for choice. There’s a variety of restaurants, swimming pools, tennis courts and even a golf range, among other facilities.
The World, which cost 380 million dollars to build, leaves Santa Cruz Port at 20.00 tonight bound for Lanzarote.
