Hi all we are arriving in the sunny island of Tenerife on Saturday 9th of March and am I right in thinking that there is a fairground and entertainment in Los Cristianos on that date and that the burying of the sardine takes place on the Sunday, any information would be much appreciated

Cheers Kevin

Happy to be returning

If I remember correctly the procession is on Sunday the 10th. It was mentioned in another thread but I can't remember which.

The Sardine Festival is hilarious. The glitzy fish is resplendent on a lorry outside the Cultural centre around 8:00p.m. and very slowly paraded through the street above the church and down to the harbour. It takes HOURS. The 'widows' wail along with it and the alcohol flows....it tends to stop or get stuck for long periods of time.
You might as well go and have some dinner after it leaves the Cultural Centre but get back for the manic revelry around 10:30p.m. at the harbour. The Sardine is dragged onto the beach and the conflagration is.....something else to behold! The costumes and antics are worth enjoying too.
