We are thinking of moving out permanently in October 2013. Both my husband and myself are seasoned entertainers i.e. Singers as Solos and as Duo as well as Karaoke Hosts. We worked out in Tenerife back in 2000 but now want to move out permanently.

Can any tell me what I can expect to earn per night now?

I can't tell you exactly what the going rate is but I can tell you that it is about half what was earned in 2000. (Boom time for everyone)

We have been out on hol's many time since and have noticed a lot of changes since 2000 with regards to entertainment. Lots of bars and clubs have closed.

It would be good to find out if there is much work for good entertainers in Tenerife at the moment.

You can start at around €60 for 4hrs if you´re any good and can find a job !

As with every other trade unemployment here is scary.

I have been here since 1994 and have seen the good and the bad.

Seasoned and popular entertainers are struggling for work.

Many have left and most of those who have stayed are having to do it as a semi pro option, which is fine but the day jobs are virtually non existent

Im afraid to say the above is correct, not a good time right now. I left in 99, been back 18 months, money less now than then, but the main problem is a lack of venues, many shut, more stopped doing it altogether, id wait. Unless you can live on savings a good while? (say 1200-1500 a month for as long as it takes). Also, legal costs to add, most bars insist nowadays. Its a risk , not many making over 80/ 100 a night that i have heard of, much less. And of course many are doing for next to nothing which is causing problems of its own.

Umm it really doesn't look good, does it! Thanks for the great advice. Maybe come out for 4 to 6 months and live of saviings to see what happens.

Not at all. As Sean says above, by the time you have paid out for your Social at 300 a month, plus insurances (public liability) and these days performing rights (SGAE) there's not a lot left !!

Work inspectors touring bars frequently these days too.
