I got a leaflet in my postbox today from some drug rehab group called Narconon.I thought the name sounded familiar so I googled them.It turns out they had been in the news quite recently. Daily Mail Article (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2188413/Rehab-facility-Narconon-linked-Scientology-blamed-recent-deaths-patients-undergoing-treatment--including-hours-daily-sauna-mega-doses-vitamins.html) It might be nothing but when you read about it and it arrives in your door. There seems to be a lot written about them on the internet.

Did you receive the leaflet in Tenerife or are you in UK at the moment?

I got it today in Tenerife. Once you google them,a whole can of worms seems to open up.

So it would seem. There are volumes written about the negative side of Scientology.

I personally think all religion is tosh, however to be taken in by something that L Ron just 'developed' with a vivid imagination and follow it like a doctrine is just nuts. I'm probably on their watch list now. ;)

I've been on their watch list for over 30 years... Had a bit of a run in with them when I was a teenager... They promised a friend of mine who suffers from a muscle wasting disease that they could cure her... They told us that all illnesses are as a result of wrongdoing in the past and that if you clear your soul of these indiscretions, you can heal your body...

Never did work out how holding 2 empty hair spray canisters and answering the same question 100 times was going to achieve this miracle...

What IS all this rubbish about talking to ashtrays etc... about anyway?

That's a new one on me... Never worked out how asking 'do birds fly' ad nauseum helped either...!

Thank you irishmusico. I have not received one yet but if it is being distributed here, then I assume it is in Spanish.

Here is a copy of the leaflet. As far as I am concerned you can believe what you want in life but those people creep me out. A lot of sinister stuff about them on line.Panorama have investigated them a couple of times. Creepy religion.

Sorry image wouldn't upload. You can see a copy of it

Creepy is a bit tame for what I think of it!! If memory serves, L Ron Hubbard was injured in a plane crash and says that he managed to heal himself.. Hence his belief that we all have the dormant ability to do likewise - after you've donated all your money and worked your way up to being a thetan (his image of a clear soul).. It's a cult.. It's scary just how many famous people are advocates for it..

Offering to help people when they are at their most vulnerable when the real intention is to "convert" them to their way of life is pretty despicable.
