Change of name on car documents in Tenerife

Have just bought a car for a family member. It will be 2 months before he comes over. Can I just wait till he arrives to change the ownership details?

Have you had the car checked for debts or embargos?
If all is clear and you have notorised copies of passport and NIE/Residencia of the person whose name its going into , plus signed paperwork, contracto de compra Venta, Modelo 620 and Trafico tasa and photocopies of sellers docs, then yes you can do change of ownership now.If not you will have to wait until you have originals as Trafico will not accept photocopies for the buyer.
It is not a good idea to wait as any debts/embargos that may be pending could be placed on the car before you change the name and then it becomes your debt , if you do the change or else the original owner would have to pay this firts before you could complete a transfer.
